The basics all plants need to grow: Soil Seeds Water Sun Life of a Plant By Risa Jordan A plant will grow from a tiny seed, Some water and sun is all you need. First the roots grown underground,They suck up minerals from all around. Then come stems, some tall, some stout,And next the branches spread about. Leaves grow in all shapes and sizes, Watch this new life as it rises. Flowers bloom from buds on stems,They are as pretty as precious gems. Some plants give us juicy fruit,Some have vegetables at the root. New seeds travel to and fro, By wind and water, on the go And the cycle keeps on going,Soon new stems and leaves are showing. The Life Cycle of a Plant:
SPRING: In the spring the temperatures will begin to rise. The warm weather will help the frozen ground to soften. Once the ground is ready, the cycle can begin again.
SOIL: All plants need soil to grow. Soil is
important because it provides nutrients the plants need. To start they plant’s growth process, a seed is planted in the soil.
SEEDS: Seeds are small and
round, and have food and nutrients inside their hard
covering. To grow a plant, a seed
must be planted into the soil.
WATER: A plant either needs rain fall or to be watered very often to grow. Water provides the seeds with many nutrients and helps break down the soil’s nutrients.
SUN: Without sunlight, the plant cannot perform photosynthesis. Photosynthesis is when a plant takes nutrients from the soil and makes it into energy. The plant uses this energy to grow.
When the seeds are planted into the soil, they absorb water and sunlight. The
