It’s a mythical town in the heart of Aroostook County which, at 6,700 square miles, is the largest county east of the Mississippi River. Aroostook County is almost as big as the state of Massachusetts. And, it’s a lot bigger than Connecticut and Rhode Island put together! Oh, and that is where Kendall Young fought in a border dispute with New Brunswick that earned him 40 acres here in Hamilton County. The play consists of a prologue/interlogue/epilogue and eight short scenes: “Her Heart,” “Sad and Glad,” “This Hurts,” “Getting It Back,” They Fell,” “Where It Went,” “Story of Hope,” and “Seeing the Thing.” Each of the scenes has less than eight pages of script and only two or three characters. All the stories about falling in or out of love take place at the same time, on the same winter night when the Northern Lights are active. Almost, Maine offers an opportunity for actors and directors who want to be part of a show that doesn’t require months of rehearsal time and tons of memorization. Executive Director Mark Andrew will oversee the scene directors: Stephanie Hill, Al Yungclas, Doug Getter, Loween Getter, and Angela Rottering. Scripts may still be available at the Library. There will be a need for volunteers to create the set, props and special effects, costume the actors, work backstage, manage the box office and house, schedule ushers, publicize the show, and run tech. See you at auditions this Sunday, December 7 and Thursday, December 11 at 7:00 pm. Read through is scheduled for Sunday, December 14. ALONE TOGETHER AGAIN The cast has put away their suitcases, paint brushes and canvas, medicine chest, and astronaut suit. You might say they are “goners” from the set of “Alone Together Again.” Congratulations to directors Bill Greenley and Angela Rottering and their cast shown below left to right: LuAnn Jackson (Helena), Ginny Continelli (Ruth), Al Yungclas (Pop), Sally Evans (Grace), and Paul Wagner (George). The comedy with a message was attended by 374 patrons. Hope you were among them! Small-cast shows are full-scale produc- tions requiring help from lots of volunteers to build paint, and dress the set; work back- stage, in the tech booth, and box office; publicize, costume, schedule ushers, and manage the house before and during the show. Many thanks to Al Yungclas, Bill Greenley, Quintin Rottering, Lynn Leksell, Carol Zills, Elaine Beerman, Abby Sharp, Wil Groves, Doug and Loween Getter, Dan and Donna Ryherd, Linda Thomas, Stephanie Hill, Cathy Olson, our box office helpers, and ushers. All WCCT productions-even the plays you are not in-succeed with team work.

AUDITIONS TO BE HELD AT WCCT

DECEMBER 7 & 11 7:00 PM

***** REHEARSALS BEGIN

AFTER THE HOLIDAYS *****

PRODUCTION DATES FEBRUARY 6-8 & 13-15

If you look on a map of Maine, you will not find the town of Almost.

You might say they are “goners” from the set of “Alone Together Again.”

Ginny Continelli (Ruth), Al Yungclas (Pop), Sally Evans (Grace), and Paul Wagner (George). The comedy with a message was attended by 374 patrons. Hope you were among them!

COLORFUL THEATRE QUILT ON DISPLAY

Many thanks to Josi Greenley for creating the first in the series of WCCT show shirt quilts. The first quilt, made of logos from the first 24 shows performed in the theatre since 1992, was put on display in the basement in time for the Ribbon Cutting and Celebration.

Josi is ready to create the next quilt. However, she is missing shirts or logos for the following shows: Frankenstein 1930, Over the River and Through the Woods, Godspell, Camping with Henry and Tom, Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing, Blithe Spirit, Camelot (2007), Quilters, The Curious Savage, Anything Goes, and War of the Worlds/Halloween Trilogy.

If you have any of those show shirts and are willing to part with them, please let Josi Greenley, Loween Getter, or LuAnn Jackson know.

If you have any of those show shirts and are NOT willing to part with them just yet, please let us see them know so LuAnn can look at them and re-create the logos.

READERS THEATRE… There has been a change Join us January 11 for

The ‘68 Higby High Reunion Cruise or Murder on a Budget

Our local playwright, Sally Evans, will be “directing” us in another of her murder mystery comedy creations., The ‘68 Higby High Reunion Cruise or Murder on a Budget. It’s time for the dreaded class reun-ion. You have noth-ing to wear, need to color your hair or get a toupee, drop 50 pounds FAST, land a new job that pays six figures, buy a new car, and if you’re single—find a fantastic new spouse. Or you can go as you are and when you arrive, realize you’re all in the same boat! That’s just where the Higby High class of 1968 finds themselves—on a boat for their reunion cruise. Unfortunately, the class treasurer was not as reliable as they all thought. The funds for the luxurious cruise took a hit, dramatically reducing the budget. But that’s not all the group has to worry about. One of their own dies unexpectedly, and suspicion is soon cast on everyone aboard. All of the personalities every class seems to have are present and are possible suspects—the jock, the nerd, the flirt, the cheerleader, the delinquent, etc.

Join in on the fun and suspense as they discover if some of them have changed a lot or if a lot of them have not changed at all.

Bring a snack to share and your own beverage and join us Sunday, January 11th at 4:30 pm.

Hotel Motel Tax Grant Presentations on December 3

Since 2010, WCCT has been the recipient of several grants from the Webster City Hotel Motel Tax Committee.

These funds, totaling $34,062 to date, have helped fund the electronic sign Superior Street banner 2010 ICTA State Convention Camp Creamery in 2013 and

2014 publicity for seasons since 2010

An application was submitted in the current round of funding for $7,525 to bring back Camp Creamery, cover the cost of Show Ready and Stage Tracks technology for Monty Python’s Spamalot, and publicize this year’s productions with postcard mailings, out-of-town newspaper ads, an ad in Standing Ovation programs, and pre-movie ads at the Webster Theatre.

Loween Getter will be making presentations about both the 2014 and 2015 grants to the committee on Wednesday, December 3, beginning at 6:30 pm at the City Hall Council Chambers.

Other groups vying for funds are Border Brigade Archery, Hamilton County Saddle Club, Legacy Learning BRV, Kendall Young Library, Chamber of Commerce, and Wilson Brewer Historic Park Committee

Your presence would show the committee that you appreciate its support.

Gina Nilles accepted the Willing Worker Award on behalf of her family for all the help they have provided WCCT on stage and behind the scenes. The plaque was created from an arm rest from the former theatre seats. Shown with Gina are board members Loween Getter, Dave Borer, Stephanie Hill and Bill Greenley.

THIS AND THAT

Thanks to Pete Neumeister for creating new signs for the “Guys” and “Dolls” dressing rooms in the addition. Take

a look at them...quite an improvement.

Al Yungclas recently helped the 5th graders from the Webster City Middle School with their presentation skills. They later presented “Vocabulary Parade” on our stage

for their families and teachers.

Webster City Community Theatre will be the site of the

Chamber’s Quarterly Coffee on September 3, 2015.

Thank you to those of you who have paid your annual

dues of $10.

If you are interested in finding out more about the 10-day trip to London and England with a special tour of Downton Abbey leaving April 30, 2016, contact Doug and Loween Getter. They are working with Bob Oliver

of Legacy Tours to plan the itinerary.

Attend the Webster City Community Chorus this week-end: Saturday at 7:30 or Sunday at 3:00 at Asbury Methodist Church. It is directed by Don Anderson and

features many WCCT members.

Loween Getter journeyed to Plain View, MN recently to see a performance of Don’t Hug Me, We’re Married. This newest sequel by Phil Olson premiered this fall in Los

Angeles and Plain View.

Congrats to the Webster City High School cast of Peter Pan. Director LuAnn Garvey is to be commended. Great

job all you WCCT veterans.

If all the world’s a stage, who’s sitting in the audience?

Iowa Community Theatre Association The ICTA board meeting was held November 1 at the Waterloo Community Playhouse. Four theatres were awarded L.K. Boutin Grants totaling $1,175: Old Fort Players for a youth theatre group, New Minowa Players for a domain name, Community Players of Greene County for speakers, and Audubon Country Players for muslin for flats.
