The second meeting for the Centennial Celebration was held at school this week. Planning for the event is underway and a date has been set. The group who have begun the process welcome any others who have an interest in helping with the organisation of the day or who may have some great memorabilia. The next meeting will be held at school on 26 October at 7.00pm.

Elgregoe used his skills as a magician and ventriloquist to share the message about using key values for a great day at school. He talked about how to treat others and about how to prevent bullying by getting children to use their ‘WITS’. We know bullying can be many different things - not just the things we do to others but the things we say. His message was clear to students “They’ve Got the Power “, to achieve a bully free environment. It was great for our children as they were able to relate the messages he spoke about to our school values.

A notice will be sent home next week, giving information about the Matamata Interschool Cross Country event on Thursday 15 September. The setup for the day remains the same and we will require help with transportation and ‘parent cheerleaders’ for the day. The event is held again at Hinuera on Gore’s Farm (Glenrowan Rd off SH29).

Our school cross country will be held at 1pm on Friday 9th September. We are always at the mercy of the weather and fingers are crossed for a fine day so that some of our children get to shine at what they do best.

On Tuesday 13 September, the Teachers are all going to a Seminar at Waikato University after school. For us to arrive on time, we are planning to shorten lunchtime that day and finish school at 2.00pm rather than 2.20pm. This will mean the van will have children home 20 minutes earlier than normal but the bus will be running at the usual time. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

We would like to invite all four year old children (who turn 5 between now and the end of February 2017) and their parents to join our Kowhai class on Friday 16 September at 9.30am until 10.45am. Children will need to bring their morning tea and then be able have a play afterwards.
