C holera is a com-municable disease

caused by a bacteria called Vibro-Cholera. It is a water borne disease. Cholera for the past three months has affected over 12,000 people in Ghana. It has also killed 100 people throughout the country. The cholera disease causes severe diarrhea and at times vomiting of affected

Asamane, the governor of Christiansborg

I n the seventeenth cen-tury when Europeans

were trying to make a lot of money by buying slaves on the Gold Coast (as it then was) the Danes built the Christianborg castle, naming it after their king Christianborg castle V. The Dane’s came from Denmark. The Dutch who came from Holland also built a fort at Accra. They called their fort “Crevrcoer”, but today it is called Usher Fort and it is now a pris-on. The Dane’s made it very strong indeed. It was so strong that it was not possible for the African’s to capture the castle. But one man had an idea. His

was name was Asamene and he was from one of the tribe of the Akwamu, who lived around the castle. He had been a cook in the house of an Europe-an trader so he knew the ways of Europeans. In 1693, he went to see the governor of Christianborg and the governor asked Asamene to tell him what he want from him and he said that he wanted to buy guns. The governor thought they wanted to fight against them but Asamene said they are not fighters but traders. He said that they wanted to protect their traders with guns against their tribes who were against them. The governor supposed that and added that theirs have died, they have only 25 men left. Asamene

requested 80 guns from the governor. Then gov-ernor said that he could can sell guns but not bul-lets and he agreed to that. A Danish officer and an African sergent showed Asamene and about 20 merchants the riffles which were stored against the walls. The Akwamu crowd around the guns and seemed very pleased. The Danish officer told them that, they should choose the guns they want and added that they should get their gold–dust ready. And Akwamu said can we take them down and look at them, and the Danish officer said yes of course they are good guns. Other Akwamu said how do we know it works; and the Danish

officer retorted that he will see what a big bang the guns make then. They made a big bang but they make no harm because they are no bullets in the guns. His men gave the Akwamu’s powder and sticks. With the sticks they push the powder into barrels of the guns but each one also takes a bullets from his cloth and this is as well. One of the sergeants said “Hey you, what are you doing?”. Asamene said we taking the castle from you. We will kill you and try to stop us. All the Akwamu natives pointed their riffles at the men in the castle. The Danish officer tried to run away but they stabbed him from behind and he fell dead. Asamene declared his victory as the governor.

Because of the coach’s poor technical ability there were series of unstoppable crisis in camp where Ghanaian Stars like Sulley Ali Muntari, Kelvin Prince Boateng and Michael Essien misunderstood
