    George R. Reese, be-

    loved father, husband,

    grandfather, brother, son,

    pastor, and friend died

    on December 5, 2013. He

was at home, surroundedby his family as well their

    prayers, thanks, love, and

    song.

    George was born Sep-

    tember 6, 1943, the son

    of James O. and Eliza-

    beth H. Reese, in Melrose

    Park, Illinois. Music, fam-

    ily, and ministry were his

passions in life. He started playing guitar at 8 years

old and became an accomplished musician, playing

in combos and events all over the Chicago area. He

received a double degree in Psychology and Religion

from Westmar College in LeMars, Iowa. He went on to

receive his Master of Divinity from United Theological

Seminary in Dayton, Ohio. George then served 39 joy-

ful years in ministry with the Christian Church (Dis-

ciples of Christ) at three different congregations; asAssociate Pastor at Central Christian Church in Ket-

tering, Ohio, then as Senior Pastor at First Christian

Church in Wauseon, Ohio, and nally as the founding

Pastor of Tylersville Road Christian Church in Mason,

Ohio where upon his retirement he was named Pastor

Emeritus. His unyielding faith and love in God allowed

him to reach beyond those church building walls to af-

fect the lives of countless others through his message

of hope, faith, and love for all. His ministry took him

to new church starts, church youth camp, Russia, The

Holy Land, England, Hawaii and more.

George and Cory celebrated their 46th wedding an-

niversary July 1, 2013. They have three loving children

and four grandchildren: Kirsten (Reese) and Gerry

Knapp and son Connor, Chris and Stacey Reese and

Chris daughter Adelaide (Addie) Reese and Staceys

son Tomas Hernandez, Katrina Reese and daughter

Corynn Bass. His children and their spouses all carry

on their fathers legacy of caring, working in the eldof social work. His grandchildren all carry on his love

    for music.

Since retiring in 2007, George spent time golng,

lling in for vacationing pastors, serving as a docent

at the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center

in Cincinnati, Ohio, being in the sunshine as much as

possible, travelling with Cory, and spending time with

    his children and beautiful grandchildren.

We will miss his warmth, his caring, his loving

touch, his contagious smile, his wealth of wisdom,

his gift of song, and his ever-present joy for life. Our

hearts are heavy with the loss of our hero. But we re-

joice, knowing that God used this vessel made of clay

to bring countless lives into relationship with Jesus

Christ, and this same God was waiting for him with

arms open wide. Rest easy in the arms of the Lord,

    faithful servant. Well done.

currently have North Central, Mill-Creek and Montpelier schoolsthat pick up and drop off at the center. They are also set up for

children enrolled in Head Start as well.

They take pride in what they do and are very honored that

parents would choose to bring their children to our center and

care for them. They work very hard to get the children ready for

kindergarten while also addressing the ODE Standards.

They have many outings for the children who come to the center, including our

summer school-age program. In the summer, they take the school-agers to the pool,

parks & recreation program in town, local nursing homes, tour a local farm, super-

market, pizza shop, and also plan an all day outing to Sauders Village. We would

encourage those who would be thinking about needing care, to give us a call so we

can show you around and what we have to offer.

The benet was heldat the Pioneer Commu-nity Center. A spaghettidinner was served, alongwith rafes, silent auc-tions, and a 50/50 draw-ing, all to raise money tohelp the single motherof three young childrenpay her medical bills. Many in attendance wore

CONTINUATION OF GENERAL NEWS / CONTINUED FROM THE FRONT PAGE

November 2013 Will Be Rememberedon the 11th through 13th, temperatureswarmed quickly with highs back into the60s by the 17th. This was the warmestday of the month, with the high reaching65 at Fort Wayne ahead of the arrival ofthe second arctic cold front. It was thisfront was associated with a preliminarycount of 28 tornadoes across Indiana...breaking the record for most tornadoes ina single day in November and being thethird most tornadoes for any day of the

year in Indiana."Although our immediate area did not

see widespread tornadic activity on No-vember 17, the outow from the frontalboundary was still erce with winds inexcess of 60 miles per hour. A rapidly re-generating severe thunderstorm along thefront blew up in northern Deance Coun-ty, prompting warnings for Deance, Wil-liams and Fulton Counties.

The only conrmed tornado activity inour area on the day came from the samesevere thunderstorm which entered Ohioin Van Wert County. At 4:47 pm, an EF-1tornado packing 100 mph winds toucheddown briey about 0.3 miles south ofthe intersection of Elm Sugar and Don-er Roads. It only spent two minutes onthe ground before lifting just south ofthe Paulding County line. Seconds lat-er though, the storm regenerated anddropped a second, more powerful EF-2funnel just inside the Paulding Countyline. Eventually crossing into PutnamCounty, packing winds of 130 mph andmoving northeast at 65 mph, this tornadoremained on the ground for 11.1 miles, plowing through Cloverdale before nallylifting ve miles northeast of the heavilydamaged village.

All things considered and with due re-spect to the fair folks of Cloverdale, thiswas a tolerable outcome to the passageof the front. Bear in mind that just a fewhours earlier, this same line of stormsdropped a half-mile wide EF-4 funnel onEast Peoria, Illinois that would go on toshred Washington, Illinois to pieces, killone and injure 125. Factoring that intothe picture, you can say with some jus-tication that we got off easy. It is
