Now that you have a rough sketch Draw it to scale on the graph paper to the right

STEP 2 CREATE A FLOORPLAN

Measure ceiling to floor at a few different points on each wall as rooms can be asymmetricalMeasure the width at the following points along the floor halfway up the wall and near the ceiling Name each individual wall on your sketch ie Wall 1 Wall 2 etcNote the size and location of windows and doorsNote the distance between windows doors and the floor and each otherInclude the measurements of the door and window framesName all the windows and doors ie Window 1 Window 2 etcDraw existing electrical sockets and the cable route to the existing appliance Draw plumbing and waste pipesNote radiators and boiler size and location Mark which wall(s) are internal and external

Now that you have an accurate floorplan above it is time to start planning the layout of your new kitchen

Firstly what shape will it be U-Shaped G-Shaped L-Shaped Galley Kitchen or Island

Secondly plan where you will place the base cabinets wall cabinets islands and tables See table to the right for standard dimensions
