God Uses Ordinary People To Do Great Things!

Through the centuries the apostles have been

turned into unapproachable

supermen … yet … they were very ordinary

They weren’t old men, but youths, probably in

their 20’s, perhaps John in his late teens, and

Peter near 30.

We know Peter was married …

Matthew 8:14

…And suggests the other apostles had

wives …I Cor. 9:5

They all came from lower or middle classes, earning their livelihood

by ordinary occupations.

I. These were imperfect men

1. They were afraid in a violent storm.

2. They fell asleep in Gethsemane

3. Angry when Mary emptied alabaster box

5. Two wanted to incinerate a town

6. Slow to grasp the teaching of Jesus

7. Boasted they would not deny Jesus

Yet … these are the men whose weaknesses and

failures were transformed by the Master into

strengths that made them the foundation of the

ChurchEph. 2:20
