A Womans Place in the 19th CenturyWomen could not have careers.Had to obey fathers, husbands, and brothers.Could be beaten if they did something to anger their father, husband, or brother.Received less education than males.Womens sole purpose was to marry and have children.All of the womens possessions belonged to her father or her husband when she married.
