The Trove, our children’s library, serves children from birth through 6th grade. See calendar on reverse for event times. For children ages 2-4, please attend Toddler Tuesdays or Trove Time. Tickets for these programs will be given out starting 30 minutes prior to the start of the program - 10:00am. Toddler Tuesday An early literacy story and playtime for ages 2-4 with a caregiver. Children and their caregiver will hear stories, play together, and increase their early literacy skills. 10/1 Mother Goose Play Time A half hour of rhymes, songs, and stories that encourage early literacy skills for ages 0-2 with a caregiver. At 11:30 a.m., age- appropriate toys are brought out for a half-hour playtime encouraging socialization skills. 10/7, 21, & 28 Storybook Dancing Steffi Nossen School of Dance presents a creative movement class ages 3-4. Dancers will go on an adventure into a classic storybook and dance their way through the pages. Space is limited. (Fo) 10/9 Stories & Stuff Preschool storytime and craft activity for ages 4-5 without adult. 10/10, 17, & 24 The Trove Events October 2019 Featured Day of the Dead Workshop (R) Following ancient traditions, children and their families will make an altar to honor a beloved deceased family member or friend. Families, Grades 2-6. Registration begins 10/1. The workshop will be held on October 11, 18 & 25. Reading Buddies Practice reading with a teen Reading Buddy! Reading Buddies will be available to read one-on- one with children in grades 1-5. (Fo) 10/2, 9, 16, 23, & 30 Trove Time An early literacy playtime for ages 2-4 with a caregiver. Children and their caregiver will play together, hear stories, and learn about enriching a child’s life. (Fr & Fo) 10/8, 10, 11, 15, 17, 18, 22, 24, 25, 29 & 31 Battle of the Books Mock Battle The Trove and Edge teams will each battle in preparation for the Battle of the Books county-wide event on October 19th. Families, friends, and anyone interested are welcome to come cheer on our teams! 10/16 Families Alphabet Books & Bingo Listen to alphabet books and play alphabet bingo. Families, Grades K-2. 10/22 School Kids STEM Buddies Children in grades 1-4 can sign up at the Compass Desk to work on STEM activities in small groups. 10/3, 10, 17, 24, & 31 Minecraft Free Play Children in grades 1-6 are invited to use our iPads to play Minecraft or other games. Children can sign up for 15 minutes time slots beginning at 4:00 p.m. If no one is waiting, children may continue using the iPads. 10/7, 21, & 28 Tech Tuesday STEM activities for grades 1-6. Beginners encouraged. Interested children sign up beginning a half hour before the session starts, 5 minutes before, names will be called in order of signup until program is full.
