The LCHS Administration wishes you all a wonderful Thanksgiving Break. We hope that you’re surrounded with the love of your dear ones this festive season. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours. We will be hosting several athletic events over the break. We look forward to seeing you. Finals will be December 14th - 17th. Please mark your calendars now. Here is a copy of the schedule and exemption requirements. Teachers will tell students if they are eligible for exemption prior to testing. Students absent due to COVID are marked “admin” in the portal. These days do not count against your attendance or exemption. Please look at information in the document for additional information. Calculating the semester average: Each 9-weeks average accounts for 40% and the final exam counts the remaining 20% of the overall semester average. Finish strong these last few weeks. As we get closer to the end of the semester, remember that the expectation is to pass all classes. If you receive less than a 70 in a class required for graduation, you will need to attend summer school or night school to recover that credit. Seniors we are almost at the halfway point, finish strong and see your counselor if you need anything. LCHS Grad Rate Increases Again Last week, the Georgia Department of Education released the following information: “Georgia’s high-school graduation rate did not change significantly from 2020 to 2021 – the 2021 rate is 83.7 percent, compared to 83.8 percent in 2020.” However, we were excited to learn that the graduation rate for Lee County High School increased again to 94.2%and this number is up from the 93% last year and 90% in 2019. We are so thankful for the students, staff and faculty who worked tirelessly last spring to support this academic achievement. The Lee County School System fosters relationships through diverse,
challenging, and quality educational experiences that cultivate successful citizens.
Registration information: We are currently hard at work making final decisions on course offerings for LCHS during the 22-23 school year. The counselors will do classroom guidance with all students in the next couple of weeks. We will also offer multiple opportunities to meet virtually during December to answer your questions about registration. Please look for more info the first part of December regarding the dates and times. If you have registration questions, contact Mr. Knight at [email protected]. Dual enrollment: All students that are interested in taking Dual Enrollment classes for the first time during Fall 2022-2023 school year must watch a mandatory video with their parents and answer the questions at the end by completing the form. This video takes the place of the mandatory meeting. To get access to the video, use your email account and click this link: Mandatory Dual Enrollment Parent/Student Informational Session
After you have completed the video and questions, Mrs. Ashley Brown will schedule you for a Dual Enrollment registration appointment when the registration period begins. You will be notified of your registration appointment in January. The deadline to watch this video is January 4th. New Dual enrollment students will need to take the SAT/ACT by January 4th to be eligible for Dual enrollment Fall 2022-2023.
