Ladies Auxiliary
Meetings Every 3rd Monday at 7pm
THANK YOU
The Officers and Members of Unit #222 would like
to thank all who attended our Halloween Spaghetti/Bingo
and helped to make it a huge success. We also want to thank
our “Chefs” who toiled away in the Activities Building heat-
ing sauce, bread sticks, and boiling spaghetti and then carry-
ing it all across the parking lot to the Ballroom. Our “Chefs”
were Mark Clopper, Chuck Mills and Jimmy Blair. If you
see them, tell them job well done!
We also need to thank Larry and Betty Smith who
called our Bingo. They did a great job! Thanks again to
Larry and Linda Williams who donated the great tasting to-
matoes that were used to make our sauce along with Steve
and Mary House who allowed us to use their home to process
them. A thank you is also in order to all who purchased
50/50 tickets and “Tail-Gate” raffle tickets. Betty Grove was
the big winner of the Tail Gate Raffle. THANKS TO ALL
FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
CHILDREN’S CHRISTMAS PARTY
The Auxiliary will hold a Christmas Party for area
children on December 13, 2015 from 2-4pm in the Activities
Building. There will be crafts, light refreshments and Santa
will be there! Parents may drop there children off and enjoy
a little relaxation at the Legion.
ANNUAL ESSAY CONTEST
The Auxiliary will once again hold an Essay Contest.
This contest is open to all Clear Spring area students in
grades 3-8, including those that may be home schooled. This
year’s topic is “How Do We Keep Lincoln’s Promise to
Our Veterans and Their Families.” The promise was from
the last words in his second inaugural speech, “to care for
him who shall have borne the battle and for his widow
and orphan.” This has also become the motto for the Dept.
of Veteran’s Affairs.
This contest runs from November 1, 2015 to February
1, 2016. Any student interested who has not already re-
ceived information from their school, please call our Essay
Chairman, Laura Blair at 301-842-3016 or pick up an entry
form at the Legion Post Home.
!!ATTENTION!!

NOT be an Auxiliary meeting in the month of December.
Meetings will resume the third week of January.

Veterans’ Day Assembly at CHS
Winter Clothing Drive
We are still collecting winter clothing. Now is a
good time of year to go through your closets; out with the
old in with the new, or to just simply reduce clutter. What
better way to recycle gently worn winter clothing than to do-
nate to the men and women at the VA Hospital in Martins-
burg?
Clothing needed is the same as before in addition to
gloves and snow covers for hats (pull over type). Under-
wear, t-shirts and socks MUST BE NEW in package.
Men’s clothing is needed the most; but flats, slacks and tops
are also needed for the women. All clothing should be in
boxes for easy handling.
Thank you for all of the help that you have done in
the past for this project. On behalf of the men and women
who will be receiving the donated items, your generosity is
appreciated. The clothes will be collected at Post #222 as in
the past.
Larry Lee, S.A.L.
