Page 6: The Tribulation

(Rev 7:1-4) And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth,

that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree. And I saw

another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he

cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea, Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the

servants of our God in their foreheads. And I heard the number of them which were

sealed: and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes

of the children of Israel.

A. Who are these people?

Page 8: The Tribulation

NOTES

There are 4 major cults in the U. S. today that will spend eternity in Hell, because of misunderstanding these verses scripture. Jehovah Witness teach that there are only 144,000 (born again) people that will go to heaven and help Christ rule and reign during the 1,000 year reign. The Worldwide Church of God (Herbert Armstrong) teach that (they) are Anglo-Saxons made up of Englishman and Americans. They teach that through proper tithing they to can be apart of it. They believe that they will escape the AntiChrist in a camp at Petra

Page 9: The Tribulation

NOTES

The 7th day Adventist teach that 144,000 are made up of faithful Sabbath day observers

The Latter day Saints (Mormons) teach that 144,000 represent themselves and that they are from the tribe of Ephraim

The correct view is that these 144,000 are Jews, 12,000 from each tribe (12)

Virgin men

B. When are these

people sealed?

Page 11: The Tribulation

(Rev 7:1-3) And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four

NOTES

God showed John the sealing of the 144,000 after the 6th seal, but that is not when they were sealed.

Chapter 7 is a description of the 5th seal being opened.

Page 13: The Tribulation

NOTES

We know that the Angels are restrained from hurting the Earth until the sealing of the 144,000 is complete

However we just read in Chapter 6 how the Earth is going to be filled with Death, disease and famine along with earthquake and hail and meteor showers, and volcano.

Page 14: The Tribulation

C. HOW are these

people sealed?

Page 15: The Tribulation

NOTES

These folks are not saved the same way we are saved in the Church age.

We know that the rapture of the Church happens in Rev. 4 and that all believers in Christ are removed from the earth.

Page 16: The Tribulation

(1Ti 3:15) But if I tarry long, that thou mayest

know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the

house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground

of the truth.

Page 17: The Tribulation

(Rom 10:13) For whosoever shall call upon the name of the

Lord shall be saved.

(Rom 10:14) How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of

whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a

preacher?

Page 18: The Tribulation

NOTES

Paul describes his conversion to Christ in 1 Corinthians 15:8 “as of one born out of due time” which is a term to describe a premature birth

The qualifications of the 144,000 are …

1. Jew 2. Tribe3. Man4. Virgin

Page 19: The Tribulation

(Php 3:5) Circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of

Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of the

Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee;

(Php 3:6) Concerning zeal, persecuting the church;

touching the righteousness which is in the law, blameless.

Page 20: The Tribulation

(1Co 7:1-8) Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: It is good for a man not to

touch a woman. Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.

Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the

husband. The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but

the wife. Defraud ye not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give

yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for

your incontinency. But I speak this by permission, and not of commandment. For I would that all men were even as I myself. But

every man hath his proper gift of God, one after this manner, and another after that. I say

therefore to the unmarried and widows, It is good for them if they abide even as I.

(Act 9:1-5) And Saul, yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went unto the high

priest, And desired of him letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he

found any of this way, whether they were men or women, he might bring them

bound unto Jerusalem. And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven: And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying

unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? And he said, Who art thou,

Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to

kick against the pricks.

Page 22: The Tribulation

(Act 9:6-9) And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou

have me to do? And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou

must do. And the men which journeyed with him stood

speechless, hearing a voice, but seeing no man. And Saul arose from the earth; and when his eyes were

opened, he saw no man: but they led him by the hand, and brought him into Damascus. And he was three days without sight, and neither did

eat nor drink.

Page 23: The Tribulation

(Act 9:15) But the Lord said unto him, Go thy

way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear

my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of

Israel:

D. WHAT is the sealed

and WHERE is

it?

Page 25: The Tribulation

(Rev 7:1-3) And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of

the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on

the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree. And I saw another angel ascending from

the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea, Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our

God in their foreheads.

Page 26: The Tribulation

NOTES

It is the seal of the living God.

The angel that comes out of the East has it in his possession

He contracts the other 4 Angels to help him.

The seal is the name of the father (Rev. 14:1

Page 27: The Tribulation

(Rev 14:1) And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion,

and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his

Father's name written in their foreheads.

(Act 9:15) But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of

Israel:

Page 28: The Tribulation

E. Why are they sealed?

Page 29: The Tribulation

NOTES

Notice that 1st of all this is NOT the same sealing that is applied to Christians in the church age.

These 144, 000 have a seal in their forehead, in short to show ownership.

The other reason for their sealing, is to protect them from the wrath and the elements of judgments. (WOW what a witnessing tool)

Page 30: The Tribulation

(Rev 9:1-4) And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the

earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit. And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke

out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were

darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit. And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them

was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power. And it was

commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of

God in their foreheads.

Page 31: The Tribulation

NOTES

With a 144,000 witnesses and 6,228 languages, that would allow for 23 people per language.

With 6.6 billion on this planet, and the rapture removing ½ a billion (very generous estimation) would leave around 6 billion people at the beginning of the Tribulation . (This 4166 people for every witness) to reach in 7 years.
