As we enter the final weeks of the school year, I am reminded how grateful I am for the safe environment we have established and maintained at school. I am particularly proud of the work done by our Student Services Support Team this year. This approach has helped us to maintain a constant awareness and emphasis on safety. We tell students, “If you see something, say something,” we are constantly watching and listening to students, teachers, and parents for cues and tips on how to make our environment safer. As we continue to engage in a variety of training opportunities and drills focused on safety, I would remind you that members of our staff are observant and receptive to new information and perspectives as they pertain to safety. If you note a concern of any kind, I strongly encourage you to bring it to our attention. In the meantime, based on my own observations as well as feedback gathered from others, I would like to remind all students of the importance of keeping our hands to ourselves in school- pushing, shoving, and horseplay are not uncommon behaviors among young people. However, they can pose a threat to the safety of others, especially when they occur in contained areas where large numbers of students are present. Students should walk, not run in the hallways and on school grounds and dress for success at all times. As the temperatures begin to climb, I would recommend that you review the school dress code with your students. The document is available here: http://www.lyndonvillecsd.org/ policies.cfm? pid=20402&searchwords=dress While students prepare for end of year exams, they have an excellent opportunity to bolster their course averages with a strong academic finish to the school year. For any student scheduled for a Regents exam in June, review sessions are available (see full schedule on page 2) and students are strongly encouraged to attend them. For all students, however, I would urge that review and study not be limited to teacher-assigned tasks or homework. Students should actively review their course materials. For more support on study skills, I strongly recommend the following document: http://www1.ccs.k12.in.us/clm/uploads/ File/ AVID_Study_Skills_for_All_Students.pdf I look forward to a safe and productive conclusion to the school year and look forward to seeing you in the weeks to come. Reminder to all Seniors
Genesee Community College is once again offering The Genesee Promise Plus initiative. Under this initiative every student who graduates from a Genesee-Livingston-Orleans-Wyoming high school in June will receive a full tuition scholarship for one or two summer courses beginning this June. All June 2018 graduates are eligible whether they plan to attend Genesee, another college or university, or even if they have not made college plans for the fall. This program is also offered to current juniors soon to be seniors in the fall as well as any new adult college student. Students may attend courses at the Batavia Campus, or at any of the six campus centers (Albion, Arcade, Batavia, Dansville, Lima, Medina, and Warsaw). The goal in establishing this scholarship program is to encourage everyone in the GLOW area to attend college and hopefully, increase the interest of 2018 high school graduates in some form of post secondary education.
The Genesee Promise Plus guarantees a full tuition scholarship for one or two summer courses at Genesee this summer. All it takes to get started is a Genesee Community College admissions application and GPP scholarship form, both of which can be located at the following link on their web site: http://www.genesee.edu/gcc/promise/ or you can see Mrs. Bow or Mr. Kingsbury in the Guidance Office.
Juniors…Please don’t forget! For any student that would like to retake the SAT, the registration deadline for the June 2nd SAT is May 3rd. Students can register for the SAT at www.collegeboard.com. The school code for Lyndonville is 332940. If you prefer to take the ACT, the test is being administered on June 9th, and the registration deadline is May 4th. Once again, our school code is 332940 and students can register at www.act.org.
Students must go to the websites listed above and pre-register in order to receive a ticket to the exam at the location selected. There is a cost associated with each exam. If you believe that you qualify for a fee waiver (ie. if you receive free/reduced lunch), see Mr. Kingsbury, and he will register your student.
If you have questions or need assistance, Mr. Kingsbury is willing to make arrangements to meet with you to complete the registration.

New immunization requirements have been made. Students MUST receive at least one dose of the meningitis vaccine PRIOR to the start of school in September. Please contact your doctor to schedule your child’s appointment prior to September, 2018. Students may be held out of school if immunizations are not up-to-date. Contact the Health Office at 765-3124, if you have any questions or concerns regarding this new requirement.

Graduation Band - 2018
One of the most rewarding activities that your son or daughter can assist with is the annual graduation band. We will learn the music in the remaining band rehearsals and we will have one rehearsal with the graduating class. All students in Grades 7-12 are encouraged to participate. Rehearsal for Graduation Band 2018 will be held Friday, June 22nd @ 9:00 am and will last about an hour. If your child wishes to
participate in graduation band, he or she must attend the rehearsal that morning. The graduation ceremony begins at 7:00 pm that night. Graduation will be over by 8:30 pm.
Lyndonville Marching Band
The 4th of July Parade and Celebration is a great tradition in Lyndonville. Last year we broke a Lyndonville record for the largest marching band ever and we’d like to do it again. You must wear closed toe shoes (sneakers are best) in order to participate.
ALL band students are encouraged to participate!!
Senior High Students
Please ask to have these dates and times below off from work.
We really need you to make these rehearsals as you are the leaders of the band and it sets a wonderful example for the younger students. If you miss rehearsals and do not know your music, we will ask you not to participate.
