A2 in Year 13
• 3 more units• Old “A” level standard• Start in June of Year 12• Exams in Jan/June
• AS and A2 units added together provide final “A” level result (A-E)
Applied AS levels (A2)
• A particular type of AS level that studies a vocational area and not a subject.
• Single – 1 “A” level• Full - 2 “A” levels• 60% assignment / 40% exam
CHOICES
• Choose 4 AS courses if very good GCSEs (At least 5 at A* - B including Maths and English)
• If not, choose 3 AS courses
• If 4, look for a contrasting subject to go with three complimentary ones.
CACHE Diploma
• Equivalent to 3 A2s• Whole programme on its own• Two days work experience every
week.• Leads to a career working with
children, including teaching.
International Baccalaureate• A complete Course at “A” level standard• It allows a much broader experience at
Advanced level.• The very best universities really like the
programme as they believe it best prepares students for Higher Education
• Exams only at end of Year 13.
International Baccalaureate• Choose one subject from each of the following
areas (3 at Higher, 3 at Lower):

• Equivalent to 2 or 4 GCSEs.• Good way of improving GCSE
qualifications• Each course studies a vocational
area• Many go on to study AS/AVCE
