The thesis revolves around the contrast and comparison of Severus Snape’s and the Jealous Husband’s major traits..

That being both: 1. loved a woman during their whole live’s and even after death 2. Purposely directed their bitterness to other men.

3. Their deaths represented something that was very symbolic that contributed in the stories.

• While Severus Snape was being harassed by James Potter, Snape lashes out at Lily Evans, who was only trying to help him. Thus creating Snape’s worse memory. In a fruitless attempt to nurse his dignity “"I don't need help from filthy little Mudbloods like her!" (OTP page. 28).

• While he mistreats harry in numerous ways, he cannot admit that a part of him have grown fond of him and at the end. However when harry does discover all that he has done, Harry sees him in a new light "Severus Snape wasn't yours; Snape was Dumbledore's, Dumbledore's from the moment you started hunting down my mother! [...]He was Dumbledore's spy from the moment you threatened her, and he's been working against you ever since! Dumbledore was already dying when Snape finished him!"(Page740-741) DH).

• SPOILER ALERT : that’s why the elder wand fails Voldermort, Snape never beat Dumbledore in a duel, it in a way died with him.

• , “Severus: Take them to the Pensieve... and look at me. [Harry stares at him]: You have your mother's eyes. [A confused look crosses Harry's face as Snape takes his last breath].”(Page.658 DH).

• Since he had lost her to James Potter, his disdain and hate, transferred over to his son when he was at Hogwarts, but the feeling was mutual, “How extraordinarily like your father you are, Potter," Snape said suddenly, his eyes glinting. "He too was exceedingly arrogant. A small amount of talent on the Quidditch field made him think he was a cut above the rest of us too. Strutting around the place with his friends and admirers ... The resemblance between you is uncanny." (PA pg.140).

• When Snape ape called Lily Evans a mudblood can be compared to when The Jealous Husband lost the woman loved because of his uncontrollable jealousy. Now however when he is reincarnated as a yellow nape amazon, he realized the mistakes he had made in his earlier life, “I was jealous in life. I admit it. I would admit it to her. (Butler 768)”.

• Even as a man and a parrot he had a sense of loathing towards anyone who he thought was involved with his lover, but that could have in a sense stemmed from his lack of masculinity and suspicions “He circled around her. A guy that looked like a meat packer, big in the chest and thick with hair, the kind of guy that I always sensed her eyes moving to when I was alive. I had a bare chest and I’d look for little black hairs on the sheets when I’d come home on a day with the whiff of somebody else in the air. She was still in the same goddam rut.”(Page. 766). While he did state that he could “sense” that her eyes would wonder to that type of guy, no real proof is given if she did cheat on him

• Even though he couldn’t shake the jealousy he had no choice to let her go,“If there are others in your life, even in your mind then there’s nothing I can do about it” (page 770), he couldn’t stop her from loving anyone else, even though it killed on the inside.

• • He died paranoid about his wife’s infidelity, which could be a factor that led to him coming back as a parrot, “So I went to his house. Nobody was around in the neighborhood and there was this big tree in the back of the house going up to the second floor window that was making funny little sounds. His suspicions of his wife’s infidelity led him to the house and to his timely demise. “I went up. The shade was drawn but not quite all the way. I was holding onto a limb with arms and legs wrapped around it like it was her in all those times when I could forget the others for a while. But the crack in the shade was out of view and I crawled on along till there was no limb left and I fell on my head. (Butler 767)”. It can be debated in the ending if he does or does not commit suicide as a parrot. He had to watch the women he loved come in go and that must have just mentally and emotionally killed him.
