The Testament March 2013 Durham, NC Lincoln Memorial Baptist Church I was flipping through the channels and I found myself watching House Hunters on HGTV. If you have never seen this reality TV show, the concept is simple. Potential home buyers put together a “wish list” that a realtor of choice will try to find in at least three homes within the given budget. The buyer will then choose the home that will best suit their needs. This particular episode the couple who was looking for a home wanted to start the home buying process after they had their first child. I sat and thought to myself how many times we plan things in life to happen one way, but it doesn’t always go as planned. Then, when it doesn’t, do we just give up on that one thing, or on the rest of the plan? Do we start over and try again, or do something else altogether? Or do we just watch our plan ride right on by? What do you do when things do not happen the way that you had planned? For the couple on House Hunters, even though a part of their plan didn’t happen as they had planned, they chose a house suitable for them as if they were going to still have a family. When the show recapped the couple in -by Sis. The Testament March 2013 Durham, NC Lincoln Memorial Baptist Church
I was flipping
through the channels
and I found myself
watching House
Hunters on HGTV. If
you have never seen this reality
TV show, the concept is simple.
Potential home buyers put together
a “wish list” that a realtor of
choice will try to find in at least
three homes within the given
budget. The buyer will then
choose the home that will best suit
their needs. This particular
episode the couple who was
looking for a home wanted to start
the home buying process after
they had their first child. However
the pregnancy was unsuccessful,
so now this home buying process
became what they considered a
new start as opposed to the initial
plan they had in mind.
I sat and thought to myself how
many times we plan things in life
to happen one way, but it doesn’t
always go as planned. Then, when
it doesn’t, do we just give up on
that one thing, or on the rest of the
plan? Do we start over and try
again, or do something else
altogether? Or do we just watch
our plan ride right on by? What
do you do when things do not
happen the way that you had
planned?
For the couple on House
Hunters, even though a part of
their plan didn’t happen as they
had planned, they chose a house
suitable for them as if they were
going to still have a family. When
the show recapped the couple in
-by Sis. Chanette Evans
the house, they confirmed that
they were able to really start over
because now they are pregnant
and are looking to have their first
born child. Ecclesiastes 9:11
(NIV) says, ‘… the race is not to
the swift, or the battle to the
strong,..but time and chance
happens to them all.’ Only God
knows why He did not allow the
first try to be a successful one, but
we do know that He has
everything in control.
So what things didn’t work out
the way you wanted or thought it
should? It’s okay that your first
try was not successful. You may
feel like something keeps
blocking you from obtaining your
goal. I want to encourage
someone today that time and
chance happens to them all. And
that delayed, does not mean
denied. So I challenge you today
to stand still, because just as this
couple did not give up on their
plan, you too can begin, again.

Habakkuk 2:2-3
“And the Lord answered me, and said, Write the Vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he
may run that readeth it. For the Vision is for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak and
not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.”

Acts 4 31 And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together;
and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness. 32
And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of
them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common.
