This will help both companies to deliver greater value to air- line customers and the flying public, and to accelerate growth in global aerospace markets. After getting approval for the partner- ship from Embraer shareholders, the companies have started diligent plan- ning for the creation of a joint venture made up of the commercial aircraft and services operations of Embraer. Boeing will own 80 per cent of the new compa- ny and Embraer will hold the remaining 20 per cent. The company will be named Boeing Brasil - Commercial. The transaction remains subject to regulatory approval; the two companies are actively engaged with authorities in relevant jurisdictions and have acquired a number of regulatory approvals. After a detailed assessment by the US Federal Trade Commission, the parties’ strategic partnership has obtained clearance to close in the United States. Recently, the European Commission indicated it will open a Phase II assessment in its review of the transaction, and Boeing and Embraer look forward to assisting with that review. Based on this development, however, the companies now expect the transaction to close in early 2020. Boeing and Embraer are also going to launch a joint venture to promote and develop markets for the multi-mission medium airlift KC-390. According to the terms of the proposed partnership, Embraer will own a 51 percent stake in the joint venture and Boeing will own the remaining 49 percent. Two KC-390 milestones were recently achieved by Embraer: the first KC-390 was delivered to the Brazilian Air Force, and the first international purchase was announced by Portugal. The comprehensive Boeing-Embraer strategic partnership will position both the companies to compete in the global marketplace, deliver greater value to customers and to boost the Brazilian aerospace industry as a whole. T he Rolls-Royce RR300 engine has surpassed the one million flight hour milestone, providing Robinson R66 helicopter operators a decade of reliable service. The iconic Frank Robinson and Rolls- Royce had jointly announced the R66 and the RR300 engine. The helicopter was certified into service in 2010. Robinson’s first gas turbine pow- ered helicopter has proven itself in dependable service around the globe, with a growing fleet of around 1,000 helicopters delivered. Boeing-Embraer strategic partnership continues to grow

Rolls-Royce RR300 engine clocks up one million flight hours in Robinson R66

Boeing and Embraer will continue to work together to establish their

strategic partnership. This will help both companies to deliver greater value to air-line customers and the flying public, and to accelerate growth in global aerospace markets.

After getting approval for the partner-ship from Embraer shareholders, the companies have started diligent plan-ning for the creation of a joint venture made up of the commercial aircraft and services operations of Embraer. Boeing will own 80 per cent of the new compa-ny and Embraer will hold the remaining 20 per cent. The company will be named Boeing Brasil - Commercial.

The transaction remains subject to regulatory approval; the two companies are actively engaged with authorities in relevant jurisdictions and have acquired a number of regulatory approvals. After a detailed assessment by the US Federal Trade Commission, the parties’ strategic partnership has obtained clearance to close in the United States. Recently, the European Commission indicated it will open a Phase II assessment in its review of the transaction, and Boeing and Embraer look forward to assisting with

that review. Based on this development, however, the companies now expect the transaction to close in early 2020.

Boeing and Embraer are also going to launch a joint venture to promote and develop markets for the multi-mission medium airlift KC-390. According to the terms of the proposed partnership, Embraer will own a 51 percent stake in the joint venture and Boeing will own the remaining 49 percent. Two KC-390 milestones were recently achieved by Embraer: the first KC-390 was delivered to the Brazilian Air Force, and the first international purchase was announced by Portugal.

The Rolls-Royce RR300 engine has surpassed the one million flight

hour milestone, providing Robinson R66 helicopter operators a decade of reliable service.

The iconic Frank Robinson and Rolls-Royce had jointly announced the R66 and the RR300 engine. The helicopter was certified into service in 2010.

Robinson’s first gas turbine pow-ered helicopter has proven itself in dependable service around the globe, with a growing fleet of around 1,000 helicopters delivered.

CAE USA has broken ground of its new state-of-the-art US headquarters facility at the Tampa International Airport.

The new facility will be leased from Space Florida. It is expected to be completed in 2022 and will be home to over 600 Tampa-based CAE USA employees.

The groundbreaking ceremony of the facility was attended today by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis; United States Represen-tative Kathy Castor (D-Fla.); Mayor Jane Castor, City of Tampa; Joe Lopano, CEO, Tampa International Airport; Craig Richard, Presi-dent and CEO of the Tampa Hillsborough Economic Development Corporation; General Bryan “Doug” Brown, U.S. Army (Retired), Chairman of the CAE USA board of directors; the Honorable Sue Payton, former Assistant Secretary of the Air Force and CAE USA board member; and Brian Morra, Chairman of the CAE USA Mission Solutions Inc. board of directors. The CAE USA facility groundbreaking was also attended by other local, state, and federal government officials; customers, partners and suppliers; and employees, including 35 employees with more than 30 years of service.

Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) has chosen L3Harris Technologies to provide two-level 5 compliant Flight Train-

ing Devices and a Virtual Flight Deck to help prepare students for professional pilot careers.

The devices, based on the CRJ700 aircraft type, will have an aircraft-specific flight deck that provides the form, fit, feel and function of the actual aircraft, as well as maintenance training features. The devices which are used by airlines and training pro-viders across the world will introduce students to operations with regional jets before they join the airlines.

We are very excited about the selection of L3Harris to provide high-quality training devices for our students,” said Wendy Beckman, Chair of the Aerospace Department at MTSU. “L3Harris was able to clearly demonstrate the robust design, impressive capabilities and easy maintenance of their equip-ment. We look forward to introducing these state-of-the-art devices shortly.”

KLM UK Engineering had organised a ground breaking ceremony to officially start the construction of a £7 million

aircraft maintenance hangar and workshop at Norwich Airport.The hub which will be due for completion by August 2020 will

give KLM UK Engineering with additional capacity to provide high-quality aircraft maintenance and repair services to custom-ers worldwide.

Norwich Airport which is owned and operated by Regional & City Airports (RCA), which also owns and operates Bour-nemouth Airport, Coventry Airport and Exeter Airport, is investing £7 million.

“This is a great milestone and is the next step in our aspirations to make Norwich a world-class centre of excellence for aviation MRO,” said Norwich Airport managing director Richard Pace “KLM UK Engineering is a major employer locally, with hundreds of skilled staff, and the new hangar and workshop facilities will be a superb and much-needed asset.

“Our economic input is already a proud one here at Norwich Airport; we have 274 staff and support, directly and indirectly, 1,240 jobs, with approximately £70 million contributed to the lo-cal economy,” continued Richard Pace.

Rigby Real Estate, the group’s property division, is managing the project, with a 54,000 sq ft hangar and 15,500 sq ft workshop. MJS has been appointed as the construction company.

Elbit Systems obtains $153 million contract to provide a networked multi-layered UAS Array to an army in Southeast Asia

Elbit Systems has received a contract of ap-proximately $153 million to supply an Army of

a country in Southeast Asia with a comprehensive, multi-layered array of Unmanned Aircraft Sys-tems (UAS). The contract will be carried out in a 22-month period.

According to the contract, Elbit Systems will sup-ply a networked multi-layered UAS solution, includ-ing more than a thousand THOR Multi-Rotor Verti-cal Takeoff and Landing (VTOL) mini-UAS, scores of Skylark LEX, Skylark 3 and Hermes 450 tactical UAS as well as Universal Ground Control Stations.

First Royal Canadian Air Force C295 show its final livery

The Government of Canada had purchased the first Airbus C295

for the Royal Canadian Air Force’s (RCAF) Fixed-Wing Search and Rescue Aircraft Replacement (FWSAR) pro-gramme, rolled out of the paint shop

showing off its final livery at Airbus facility in Seville, Spain.

The aircraft will undergo through the final preparation phase before its delivery to the customer which is planned to take place in Spain before

the end of 2019.The aircraft has a yellow paint

scheme following the tradition defined in the 1970s for Search and Rescue aircraft, giving high visibility for those in the air and on the ground.

Bell 360 Invictus enters US Army’s FARA competitive prototype programme

Pratt & Whitney receives $5.7B F135 production contract

Bell 360 Invictus has entered into the US Army’s Future Attack Reconnaissance Aircraft (FARA) competitive prototype pro-

gramme. Bell has an innovative approach to designing the Bell 360 Invictus, combines proven low-risk technologies with advanced processes to deliver soldiers an affordable, agile and lethal solution to win on the modern battlefield. The Bell 360 Invictus meets or exceeds all necessities laid out under the FARA contract.

“The Bell 360 will deliver advanced battlefield situational aware-ness, as well as lethal options, in support of the maneuver force at an affordable cost” said Vince Tobin, executive vice president of Military Business at Bell. “The multi-domain fight will be complex, and our team is delivering a highly capable, low-risk solution to confidently meet operational requirements with a sustainable fleet.”

“Bell is committed to providing the US Army with the most af-fordable, most sustainable, least complex, and lowest risk solu-tion among the potential FARA configurations, while meeting all requirements,” said Keith Flail, Vice President of Advanced Vertical Lift Systems at Bell. “360 Invictus is an exciting opportunity for us to continue our support of Army modernisation. This is the next solution to ensure soldiers have the best equipment available for the multi-domain fight.”

Pratt & Whitney has received a production contract for the 12th and 13th lots of F135 propulsion systems,

powering all three variants of the F-35 Lightning II aircraft.

This is the largest-ever F135 production contract which funds over 332 engines for the US armed services and international customers, and includes programme management, engineering support, pro-duction support, and tooling. The total contract value for Lot 12-14 is around $5.7 billion and it covers all Lot 12 and Lot 13 engines, with priced options for Lot 14.

“This is a significant milestone for the programme and underscores the hard work of our joint govern-ment and industry team,” said Matthew Bromberg, President of Pratt & Whitney Military Engines. “We’re proud to be delivering 5th-generation propulsion capability at a great value for the warfighter.”

Baker has been working with UTC for over 30 years and is known companywide as a forward-thinking and custom-er-driven leader. Most recently, she led the Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance & Space Solutions segment for Mission Systems where she’s been focused on driving long-term growth and profitability through customer sup-port and programme execution.

Bombardier has appointed Christophe Degoumois as Vice President of Sales, Inter-national for Bombardier Business Aircraft. He will look after business jet sales in all regions outside the Americas.

Degoumois started working for Bombar-dier in 2004 as a Sales Director. Over the last 15 years, he occupied roles of increas-ing responsibility, including Vice Presi-dent of Sales in China and the Asia-Pacific. Most recently, he was Vice President of Sales for Europe, Russia and the Com-monwealth of Independent States (CIS). His expanded role will include the above regions as well as China, the Asia-Pacific, the Middle East and Africa.

C&L Aerospace has appointed Everette Mash as Senior Vice President of Aircraft Sales. He will focus on expanding business in the regional aircraft sales and brokering division.

Everette will look after the needs of current and prospective own-ers/operators who are searching for aircraft such as Saab 340, ATR 42, 72, and ERJ 135/145. Everette will also be responsible for evaluat-ing current aircraft markets, developing asset management solu-tions, offering aircraft sales, strategy and marketing support to owners, and more.

Prior to joining C&L, Everette headed Twin Otter Holdings, LLC. for 13 years where he purchased, refurbished, sold, and leased Twin Otter aircraft worldwide. Everette also worked at Jet Aviation as Director of Aircraft Sales and Embraer as the Director of Preowned Aircraft sales handling all the pr-eowned trade-in aircraft for the new ERJ145 family of regional jet aircraft.

Patrick J. Murphy joins BAE Systems’ Board of Directors

BAE Systems has appointed Patrick J. Murphy to its Board of Directors for a term that will run through April 2022.

“Patrick has dedicated his career to serving our country in the US military, government and veterans’ community, and he brings decades of leadership and management experience to our board,” said Michael Chertoff, Chairman of the Board of BAE Systems, Inc. “He possesses firsthand knowledge of our defence and national security customers’ needs and I’m looking forward to his valuable insight as a board member.”

Currently, Murphy is the Distinguished Chair of Innova-tion at the United States Military Academy at West Point, an ambassador for the US Chamber of Commerce Hiring Our Heroes initiative, a Senior Fellow at the Association of the US Army, a media executive, and the Executive Chairman of WorkMerk, an education technology company.

Murphy is also on the Cyberspace Solarium Commission, which was founded to support US efforts to deter future cy-berattacks, increase coordination between government agen-cies, and develop expertise to promote American interests in cyberspace.

Murphy has graduated from the King’s College, the Univer-sity of Scranton ROTC programme, and the Widener Univer-sity Commonwealth School of Law.

Honeywell names Deborah Flint to Board of Directors

Cutter Aviation promotes Godfrey Higgs III to Manager of Aircraft Services Honeywell has elected Deborah Flint to its Board of Directors as an

Independent Director. She is the chief executive officer of Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA).

LAWA is a self-supporting department of the City of Los Angeles and owns and controls Los Angeles International (LAX) and Van Nuys (VNY) general aviation airports.

Flint manages the comprehensive modernisation of LAX, including championing the use of connected, Internet of Things technologies to manage the airport more efficiently, offer a world-class experience for travelers, and enhance safety and security.

Flint also held senior roles at the Port of Oakland, where she honed her management and finance skills more than 23 years.

“Deborah brings to the Honeywell Board of Directors a skillset that supports our strategy of becoming the premier software-industrial company, including innovation and technology, finance, and opera-tions in many of the verticals we serve,” said Darius Adamczyk, chairman and CEO of Honeywell. “Her deep experience in areas such as critical infrastructure, connected buildings and advanced security solutions will be invaluable to Honeywell’s leadership team. Cutter Aviation has promoted Godfrey Higgs III to Manager of Aircraft Services at Centen-nial Airport in Denver, Colorado. In this new role, Higgs will be responsible for managing all aspects of maintenance operations, including the successful implementation of maintenance projects and cost-effective utilisation of depart-ment resources.

Higgs started working for Cutter Aviation from July 2018 as a maintenance technician for our Part 145 Repair Station in Addison (ADS), TX. He moved from being a technician to supervisor and now to manager.

Before joining Cutter Aviation, Higgs worked as a supervisor and quality assistant at a Part 145 Pilatus Repair Station in Denton, TX. He was in charge of supervising inspections on the Pilatus PC-12 and Piaggio I, II, EVO air-frames. Higgs has a lot of first-hand experi-ence with Pilatus owners in the Midwest and unfailingly delivers aircraft that exceed client expectations.
