What is a subject?

The subject of a sentence is the person, place, thing, or idea that is

doing or being something.

What is a verb?

The Verb in a sentence is a word that shows action or a state of being. The verb

tells what people or things do or are.

Look at the verbs highlighted in red below.What do they tell about the sentences?My dog follows me everywhere.We run together in the field.My sister and I take him for walks down our street.

Making them AgreeA verb in the present tense must agree with the subject of the sentence. They must both be singular or both be

plural.Singular subject and verb Plural subject and verb

Use your list of subjects and your list of verbs to make sentences. They can be silly

or serious sentences. Be sure to use singular subjects with singular verbs AND

plural subjects with plural verbs.
