The urban design of the Southern Gateway corridor evolved from the site analysis process that considered the adjacent neighborhood character of the corridor beginning in the suburban areas of Lancaster and Cedar Hill and continuing through many diverse neighborhoods to the urban center of Oak Cliff. The design took the area’s rolling hills, mature trees and exposed native limestone into consideration. The limestone geology, or strata, established the corridor theme and was interpreted through pattern in the hardscape design elements of the corridor.
