Pre conversion preparation involved tidying of parameters -Locations, Loan rules,III product review, Fixed length codes, Faculty code review, Record templates, Load profiles, Standardisation of variable length fields, Patron types, Patron blocks table, Authorisations Some very old authorisations were brought in with the conversion.

Training smooth. We called them information sessions, because we couldnt really perform training in the preview database given that you cant perform most functionsSet-up of close to 300 Sierra users Workflows, Applications, Permission (came across from Millennium), Settings, Options, Preferences made easier by importing info from old loginsSince conversion, weve decided to keep the old logins as templates to import as base user information setting up workflows and applications in the old logins to Sierraise them.Basecamp very responsive project leadWebex training repeated very helpfulDifficult to get your head around the changes to how people will work in Sierra.Implemented a Functional Area Expert Group to assist with the conversion ongoing training to assist our very small ILMS team with small issues on siteActual conversion was a very smooth process, in part because we had the benefit of others experience with the conversion interdependencies all considered no issues 1. EzProxy 2. CALLISTA (student record interface) 3. HR interface (Staff records) 4. DFMS no issuesPost conversion testing Converted overnight all functionality available and in use by lunch time on the day of conversion (even Acquisitions woo hoo!)Within the first month after going live with Sierra, the ILMS Team logged over 200 help ticketsMany tickets related to finding what staff needed due to accessing the functions/workflows via the drop down box. Many minor tweaksDespite information sessions, some staff were confused by the Encore like search display, many have converted to the compact Millennium like display... And who knew security on the SDA was so important? without Full control in the security of the SDA, there were many things staff couldnt do, including save local printer settings Thanks to David Gallagher from III for resolving that one for us.Weve reviewed the way we added information to user profiles in the first instance and would do it differently now, with the benefit of hindsight.Weve also reviewed some of our workflowsOnly just started setting up our Dashboards this will be rolled out as part of a Social Media training program being conducted for Library staffAllowed Staff to change their own preferences because theyre working on their own, individual profilesSet-up generic profiles for loans desk staff Initially thought wed need to use contextual users to do this but found we didntPost migration issues go to the help desk slow response on many issues Continuing to experience extreme slowness particularly with create lists and ftp of larger files III actively working on these issuesSome major outstanding issues Postal registers have not worked since conversion on Sept. 17th.Create lists work a bit differently many of our saved searches needed to be recreated Extreme slowness when using certain list parametersSQL access looks very usefulPost migration sign off meetings with project Would be beneficial to have documentation on the changes to listing parameters.Macros changed pathways necessitated recreating these should have done this for one of the logins then imported with the settings options etc. into each user.Internal documentation changing pathways and screen captures

1The Sierra Nevada is a mountain range in the U.S. states of California and Nevada, between the Central Valley and the Basin and Range Province. The Sierra runs 400 miles (640km) north-to-south, and is approximately 70 miles (110km) across east-to-west. Notable Sierra features include Lake Tahoe, the largest alpine lake in North America; Mount Whitney at 14,505ft (4,421m),[1] the highest point in the contiguous United States; and Yosemite Valley sculpted by glaciers out of 100-million-year-old granite. The Sierra is home to three national parks, 20 wilderness areas, and two national monuments. These areas include Yosemite, Sequoia, and Kings Canyon National Parks; and Devils Postpile National Monument.
