The Virtue Assemble was held on February 7th. The school community is busy with learning and provid- ing opportunities for students to engage in some extracurric- ular activities of interest, high- lighting their talents and skills. In February, Chiganois stu- dents celebrated Valentine’s Day, 100th Day of School and African Heritage month. Goat Works visited the school and provided a drum- ming workshop for each class on Friday, February 14th. The students experienced some hands-on drumming and learned the history, construc- tion and sounds of the drums. They explored some proper techniques and cultural rele- vance and learned to drum a traditional West African rhythm. The day was very in- teractive, allowing students the opportunity to work to- gether to create song and lis- ten to each other. School Wide Skating for stu- dents in grades Primary – 5 at the West Colchester United Arena will be held prior to March Break. More info to come via email, closer to win- ter carnival week. There was no school for students on Feb- ruary 17th, Nova Scotia Her- itage Day and no school for students on Friday, February 21st, due to an Inservice Day. This year’s annual ski trip for the Grade 4 and 5’s was scheduled for February 18th and the weather cooperated making for a beautiful day on the slopes. The SAC/PTG met on February 19th. Pancakes with the Principal was held on February 20th for February Birthdays.The 100th Day of School was celebrated on February 24th. Grade 4 & 5 students took a trip to Museum of Industry on February 25th. Primary Registration will be held on February 28th by appointment only. A sick child is un- able to function well at school and would probably recuper- ate faster at home.To help pre- vent the spread of illness, please help us promote proper and frequent hand washing. We have also been taking precautions at the school including extra clean- ing to help alleviate the spread of viruses. Ru Ru’s Poetry Café was held at Chiganois Elementary on Dec. 17 TH Mrs. Donna MacLeod’s Grade 4/5 class was transformed into a delightful café, with a light lunch served and students took turns reading their favourite poetry and completing a few exercises.
