It's OK to Win

How many of you parents work hard all week only to watch your kid get yelled at by some borderline psycho-path coach on the weekends? Why do we all stand there on one side of the eld -- that we all pay to seed and mow, by the way -- watching some-body on the other side yell out their life's frustrations?

One day, I was watching a coach melt down, and I sur-veyed the parents on the side-line. ere were lots of quality individuals watching the

game in my estimate. Many of them drove Bavarian-styled cars, and you could tell they followed the maintenance guidelines. We easily outnum-bered the maniacal person yelling at our kids by a factor of hundreds, but we did nothing.

"Are you seeing this?" I remember asking one parent. He had a cowboy hat on. Seemed like a stand-up guy. Without even looking at me, he nodded.

"Yup.""I don't understand this.

When do we foment an upris-

ing? We have nice rims on our cars ... we don't need to take this."

"We also don't have to coach," he replied.

Good point. We decide it's a teaching moment for the kids: Don't be that guy.

e other day I was watch-ing my nephew play ag foot-ball. It's a tie score and there are parents telling their kids to "ease up on the throttle." They drive Porsches and Audis that go zero to 60 mph in 5 seconds at that they got by being ruthless adversaries in the business world all week, but now we have to stand around and root for a tie on a freezing weekend morning in January?

I look at my sister as the "teaching moment" starts getting bandied about by the coach. He's a nice guy.

"You know what they say about ties?" I ask her.

"No. What?""It's like kissing your sister."She springs into action,

cuts out the middleman and motions for her quarterback son to come over.

"He's been open all game on the right. ey can't defend him. End this."

Two seconds later he throws a strike, does a little dance, the game concludes and we apologize to the coach.

"We have seat warmers," we explain.

We think it over and back-track a bit on the drive home. We clarify to her son that winning at all costs isn't the way to go ... that you don't want to show up your oppo-nents, be a good sport. And we explain that sports don't have to be a chore.

But it is OK to win. It's more fun, and you don't have to apologize for it if you do it the right way.

A successful state program providing educa-tional opportunities for the state’s prison population is dying on the vine due to the ongoing budget impasse, but it doesn’t have to be that way according to State Sen. Kyle McCarter.

“It’s really an unneces-sary loss on multiple levels,” said McCarter (R-Lebanon). “Our community colleges are not receiving state pay-ments for prison education programs the state wants. As a result, the colleges can no longer a ord to fund the programs on their own and they are being dropped. Inmates who want to turn their lives around are being hurt and so is our society at large. Inmates who are re-leased without that educa-tional experience and ac-quired skills are more likely to go back to crime. at means more jail time and fewer productive citizens.”

e educational/voca-tional program is funded by the Illinois Department of Corrections (DOC), but the Department has not made payments since the budget impasse began July 1, 2015.

As of this date, Richland Community College in Decatur and Danville Area College have ended their vocational/educational program for inmates. Lakeland Community College in Mattoon pro-vides services, but on Monday, Jan. 25, the Kaskaskia College Board of Trustees voted to extend the 28-year old inmate educa-tional program with the Centralia Correctional Center only for another 30 days.

In a recent letter to Sen. McCarter, George M. Evans, Dean of Career and Technical Education at Kaskaskia College wrote that the program provides inmates with a vocational skill that makes them em-

ployable and that saves taxpayers millions of dollars annually.

According to Dean Evans, the data collected by the college shows:

• Of the 193 inmates who have completed a program of study at the Centralia Correctional Center and have since been released, only 35 have returned to the Illinois Department of Corrections. is is a re-cidivism rate of 18.13%.   is rate is 33% lower than the IDOC state average of 51%.

• When comparing the cost of incarceration versus the signi cantly decreased recidivism rate, the State of Illinois saved $3,480,010.

• Th is signifi cant reduc-t i o n s u p p o r t s t h e Governor's goal of reducing the State’s prison popula-tion by 25% by the year 2025, as stated by the Illinois State Commission of Criminal Justice and Sentencing Reform on July 1, 2015.

According to a report prepared by Kaskaskia, Lakeland, Richland and Danville Area colleges, more than 10,200 degrees and certi cates were con-ferred on inmates from 23 correctional facilities as-sociated with the state-funded program over the past ve years.

  e report states:  • Nearly 2,000 inmates

complete an educational program on an annual basis. Generally these inmates are months from release and are gaining a skill set that will lead to employment following release, in elds demanded by the marketplace.

• When comparing the cost of incarceration versus the signi cantly decreased recidivism rate, the State of Illinois saves over $46 million per year by provid-ing educational opportuni-

ties to inmates. “ e hard facts tell tax-

payers Kaskaskia College and other community col-leges operate a successful program and the inmates know it too,” said McCarter. “In the past ve years, the number of inmates taking advantage of the program and the number of credit hours they completed con-sistently increased. at’s a testament to the program and the real-life di erence it is making.”

Sen. McCarter said he’d like to see the Governor consider the educational program to be a necessary operational expense as he has done with other critical parts of the state budget.

“ ere’s always talk in Spring eld about prioritiz-ing spending within the budget. I agree and it’s common sense that if we’re going to do this, we should connect funding with results and value,” said McCarter. “It’s clear by the facts — the objective crite-ria — regarding inmate participation, graduation and completion of degrees and certi cates, and a re-duction in recidivism, that this program works and these colleges deliver real bene t to government, to inmates and to taxpayers.”

McCarter said objective criteria and performance-based results is a sensible and responsible way to fund other priorities and other parts of the higher educa-tion budget, such as the Monetary Award Program (MAP). MAP is a nancial grant program that helps students with tuition costs. Currently, many Illinois colleges and universities are self-funding MAP because of the ongoing budget impasse. Questions are also being raised about how long MAP can be maintained without direct state funding.

BUDGET IMPASSE TAKES TOLL ON PRISON EDUCATION PROGRAM

Farmers and crop insurers depend on seasonal predic-tions of weather and soil workability to select appro-priate cultivars, make deci-sions about planting and harvest dates, forecast yield, and de ter mine r i sk . However, climate change-induced weather variability is making it harder to predict workable conditions for crop pro du c t i on s y s te ms . University of Illinois re-searchers developed new models that improve the ability to forecast field working days, even under changing climatic condi-tions.

“On any given day, a farmer is going to know very precisely whether the soil is going to be workable,” says U of I ecologist Adam Davis. “What we’re trying to do is take that ‘farmer sense’ and convert it into something measurable and predictable.”

Field working day predic-tion models are primarily

useful in risk assessment. One of the models, which

was based on 52 years of Illinois soil moisture data and weekly eld working day data, eliminated systematic prediction biases at the state level and significantly reduced them at the crop reporting district level. is model could be applied to regions outside Illinois, since USDA working day reports are available for most other states.

e errors that existed in earlier field working day predictions occurred most frequently in April and May, an interval that previous predictions suggested would be favorable for planting. In recent years, however, April and May have been substan-tially wetter compared with the 30-year average.

Climate models predict warmer, wetter springs and drier, hotter summers. Since publishing this study, the

team has integrated future climate scenarios like these into their eld working day models. is will eventually allow them to make more speci c recommendations to Illinois farmers, extension specialists, and risk manag-ers.

"Optimization of agricul-tural eld workability pre-dictions for improved risk management," appears in Agronomy Journal. Lead author Bradley Tomasek is now in a Ph.D. program at Duke University. Co-authors Marty Williams and Adam Davis are Research Ecologists with the USDA Agricultural Research Service, and faculty members in the UIUC Crop Sciences Department. Funding was provided by the USDA Agricultural Research Service.

e Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) today delivered rules to imple-ment regulated harvest of bobcats in the State. Authority was granted by Public Act 99-0033, which took e ect January 1, 2016.

Proposed rules will be re-viewed by the General Assembly’s Joint Committee on Administrative Rules (JCAR) to determine compli-ance with statutory provisions.   e process includes a period for public comment.  Adopted rules will be reviewed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to assure compliance with federal regulations on trade of bobcat pelts, and with an in-ternational treaty governing their export. Approval of export authority by USFWS requires adequate measures to protect Illinois’ bobcat popula-tion from over-harvest.

Proposed amendments to administrative rules 550 and 570 are posted on the

Department’s website at http://www.dnr.illinois.gov/adrules/P a g e s / P r o p o s e d . a s p x . Proposed rules include:

 • Harvest of bobcats will be prohibited in northeastern and east-central Illinois.

• People must purchase a $5 Bobcat Hunting and Trapping Permit before attempting to take the species.  A limited number of permits will be available on a rst-come, rst-served basis.

• Th e bag limit will be one bobcat per person per season.

• Hunting season dates will run from November 10 through January 31 with brief closures during the firearm deer season.

• Trapping season dates will run from November 5 through January 20 in the northern zone and November 10 through January 25 in the southern zone.

• People who harvest a bobcat must purchase a $5

Bobcat Registration Permit.   ey will be mailed a federal tag, which must be a xed per-manently to the pelt before it is exported or transferred to a fur buyer, fur tanner, taxider-mist or garment manufacturer.

Comments on these or other proposed changes to

administrative rules 550 and 570 may be submitted to the Department by mail: Anne Mergen, Illinois Department of Natural Resources, O ce of Legal Counsel, One Natural Resources Way, Spring eld, IL 62702. e public comment period is open for 45 days.

Classical Records

Q: We have a collection of 78-rpm and LP record-ings, mostly classical. Could you provide me with the names of buyers? — Janice, via e-mail

A: I get questions about older recordings at least a dozen times each week, and my answer is always the

same: Unless you have real rarities, there is little market for older record-ings. I contacted used record dealers in Los Angeles, St. Louis, Dallas and New York, and I was told that it was di cult, if not impossible, to sell clas-sical recordings in the sec-ondary marketplace. You might consider donating

your collection to a charity.***

Q: Can you recommend a good price guide for comics. My son has a collec-tion of about 75 vintage issues, and I think we should investigate to see what the current values are. — Susan, Spring eld, Missouri

A: There are three comic references I consult on a

regular basis: "Golden Age Comics" by Alex G. Malloy and Stuart W. Wells III (Krause Books); "O cial Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide" by Robert W. Overstreet (House of Col-lectibles); and "Comic Book Checklist and Price Guide" by Maggie omp-son, Brent Frankenho and Peter Bickford (Krause Books). Since prices can vary from region to region, don't assume values listed are chiseled in stone. Also, don't hesitate to contact established comic-book dealers in your area.

***Q: I have an old fruit jar

that I inherited from my

grandmother. Although I realize most fruit jars are fairly common, this one could be an exception. It is a Globe jar and appears to be handcra ed. It has a deep olive color, and I've never seen one like it before. — Susan, Waco, Texas

A: According to my fa-vorite fruit jar price guide, 1000 Fruit Jars by Bill Schroeder (Collector Books), your jar is extreme-ly rare. In olive green, it is valued at $1,000; olive amber, $1,000 plus; and aqua-clear, $35 to $65.

***Q: I have some sterling

atware by Gorham in the Sovereign-Old pattern. Can

you tell me when this pattern was introduced? — Pat, Orchard Park, New York

A: Your pattern was rst o ered in 1941. It is a hand-some pattern and quite desirable.

Hillary felt the Bern. Last Thursday night's debate started as another love fest but quickly changed. What I really loved was when Hillary Clinton was talking about free college that she doesn't agree with and pointed out Donald Trump's kids. What a hyp-ocrite! How about Chelsea, whose mommy and daddy set her up a er college with a $600,000 a year job? Really, Hillary!

On the A ordable Care Act (ACA), Bernie Sanders pointed out that there are 29 million people who don't have health insurance today because of the ACA, a er Hillary's count of 18 million people who now have it. And yes, the ACA eliminated pre-existing conditions, but no one explained the in-crease in cost that no middle class person can a ord.

Is anyone really buying into her? Yes, they are!

As for Bernie and his 1% bull, it's unfortunate that in this country it's become a sin to succeed, and I'm here to tell you anyone who's running a business today just got what I said. Small businesses are the backbone of this country. As for large corporations, you need to look at those companies. There is a reason they are leaving the country. Just take the State of Illinois. e federal gov-ernment is not — I repeat, not — business friendly.

I agreed with Bernie when he said to Hillary, “Let's walk the walk and not the talk, bringing up her super pac connections.

Not that I'm for Bernie, but indeed, he had a valid point! And he made it quite clear.

Hillary pointed out her life's work. Anyone who knows her life's work would appreciate her, with her real track record, starting with people like supporter George Soros. Next week we'll go into “Who is George Soros?”

Bernie did put her in her place by pointing out con-tributions that were favored by her.

He also pointed out a $5 billion government fine paid by Goldman Sachs, a supporter of Hillary. ey paid a ne but no one goes to jail and has a record. But if a kid gets picked up for marijuana, it can ruin that kid's life. is is part of Hillary Clinton's M.O.

Hillary Clinton pointed out the Dodd Frank bill as a good thing which she sup-ported. This bill nearly broke the housing market.

And one of the biggest issues I have is the woman card. is kind of issue only comes from weak, weak women. I don't need to stand behind the “I'm a woman” card. And when it comes to foreign policy, she said look at my record. Well, I have, and no thank you!

In the end, Bernie is weak and Hillary is corrupt. You can say what you want about the GOP Presidential slate, but frankly, I'll take any of them over these two Democratic candidates! What a sad state of a airs.

However, keep in mind the young people of this country are for Bernie, and I get that. I believe his heart is in the right place, he's honest and he truly cares.

Hi l lar y Clinton is corrupt, and in my opinion, her whole life has been based on greed. So with that

said, I'll leave it there! On a positive note,

Hillary at least got back to the podium before the break was over.

A nal note on the Iowa Caucuses: Cruz, in my opinion, isn't any better than Hillary. Talk about dirty pool. Ben Carson had le Iowa early on caucus night and Cruz Camp sta -ers told caucus voters that Carson must be dropping out of the campaign because he le early, and don't waste a vote. "Vote Cruz."

One nal thought on the debate: Of course it ended in a love fest, with Clinton saying vote with your heart. I would recommend you vote with your head.

Sanders closed with, “Our government belongs to all of us and not a few wealthy contributors.

On national polls, Bernie and Hillary are running neck and neck. Hillary —only by the ip of a coin — won Iowa in typical Clinton fashion. e latest on the issue: e De Moines Register is calling for an audit.

Leaving you with one nal thought: If Clinton is elected President, she'll appoint Barack Obama to the Supreme Court, a man that's violated the U.S. Con-stitution numerous times.

Until next week

LOCAL GIRL SCOUTS MAKE VALENTINES FOR SHIMKUS

Submitted Photo

Every February 14th people around the world exchange gi s, chocolates and romantic greetings for a day set aside for lovers. Many traditions are fol-lowed, all in the name of St. Valentine. Still, people may not understand why such customs are upheld. Much of the history of Valentine's Day and St. Valentine himself is shrouded in mystery, and much of what's widely accepted is inaccurate. To set the record straight, here are some facts about the holiday.

• Valentine's Day is be-lieved to have originated from a celebration in Rome during the fifth century. This celebration paid tribute to St. Valentine, a Catholic priest. Other his-torians surmise it was a way to "Christianize" the pagan holiday of Lupercalia, which was a fertility festi-val. Included in the tradi-tions were boys and girls drawing names from a box

and exchanging gi s.• Th e Catholic Church

acknowledges at least three different saints named Valentine or Valentinus.

• All of the stories sur-rounding St. Valentine — whether they are disputed or not — paint him as a sympathetic and heroic individual.

• Valentine's Day greet-ings have been popular from the Middle Ages onward, though they have been usually verbal in nature.

• The oldest known written valentine still in existence today was a poem written in 1415 by Charles, Duke of Orleans, to his wife while he was imprisoned in the Tower of London fol-lowing his capture at the Battle of Agincourt.

• Valentine's Day is cel-ebrated in the United States, Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom, France, and Australia.

• Valentine's Day and Mother's Day are the most

popular holidays to give owers.

• According to Hallmark, women purchase 85 percent of all valentines.

• According to the Greeting Card Association, an estimated one billion Valentine's Day cards are sent each year, making Valentine's Day the second largest card-sending holiday of the year behind Christmas.

• Candy was among the earliest Valentine's Day gi s and remains a popular gi today.

• Some tales suggest that the type of bird a girl watches on Valentine's Day predic ts her future husband. A bluebird indi-cates a happy man, while a sparrow indicates a poor man.

• In Medieval times, girls consumed unusual foods on Valentine's Day in the belief it would make them dream of their future hus-bands.

• Fever• Shortness of breath• Weakness or fatigue• Swelling in your legs or abdomen• Changes in your heart rhythm• Dry or persistent cough• Skin rashes or unusual spots

Heart disease symptoms caused by valvular heart disease:

The heart has four valves — the aortic, mitral, pulmonary and tricuspid valves — that open and close to direct blood ow through your heart. Valves may be damaged by a variety of conditions leading to narrowing (stenosis), leaking (regurgitation or insu  ciency) or improper closing (prolapse).

Depending on which valve isn't working properly, valvular heart disease symptoms generally include:

• Fatigue• Shortness of breath• Irregular heartbeat• Swollen feet or ankles• Chest pain• Fainting (syncope)

When to see a doctorSeek emergency medical care if you have these heart disease

symptoms:• Chest pain• Shortness of breath• FaintingHeart disease is easier to treat when detected early, so talk to

your doctor about your concerns about your heart health. If you're concerned about developing heart disease, talk to your doctor about steps you can take to reduce your heart disease risk. This is espe-cially important if you have a family history of heart disease.

If you think you may have heart disease, based on new signs or symptoms you're having, make an appointment to see your doctor.

February is American Heart Month, so there's no better time than RIGHT NOW to start paying

better attention to your heart health!-------------------------------------

Heart disease symptoms depend on what type of heart disease you have.

Symptoms of heart disease in your blood vessels (atherosclerotic disease)Cardiovascular disease is caused by narrowed, blocked or sti ened

blood vessels that prevent your heart, brain or other parts of your body from receiving enough blood. Cardiovascular disease symptoms may be di erent for men and women. For instance, men are more likely to have chest pain; women are more likely to have symptoms such as shortness of breath, nausea and extreme fatigue.

Symptoms can include:• Chest pain (angina)• Shortness of breath• Pain, numbness, weakness or coldness in your legs or arms if

the blood vessels in those parts of your body are narrowed• Pain in the neck, jaw, throat, upper abdomen or backYou might not be diagnosed with cardiovascular disease until

you have a heart attack, angina, stroke or heart failure. It's important to watch for cardiovascular symptoms and discuss concerns with your doctor. Cardiovascular disease can sometimes be found early with regular exams.

Heart disease symptoms caused by abnormal heartbeats (heart arrhythmias):

A heart arrhythmia is an abnormal heartbeat. Your heart may beat too quickly, too slowly or irregularly. Heart arrhythmia symptoms can include:

• Fluttering in your chest• Racing heartbeat (tachycardia)• Slow heartbeat (bradycardia)• Chest pain or discomfort• Shortness of breath• Lightheadedness• Dizziness• Fainting (syncope) or near fainting

Heart disease symptoms caused by heart defects: Serious congenital heart defects — defects you're born with

— usually become evident soon after birth. Heart defect symptoms in children could include:

• Pale gray or blue skin color (cyanosis)• Swelling in the legs, abdomen or areas around the eyes• In an infant, shortness of breath during feedings, leading to

poor weight gainLess serious congenital heart defects are often not diagnosed

until later in childhood or during adulthood. Signs and symptoms of congenital heart defects that usually aren't immediately life-threatening include:

• Easily getting short of breath during exercise or activity• Easily tiring during exercise or activity• Swelling in the hands, ankles or feetHeart disease symptoms caused by weak heart muscle (dilated

cardiomyopathy): Cardiomyopathy is the thickening and sti ening of heart muscle. In early stages of cardiomyopathy, you may have no symptoms. As the condition worsens, symptoms may include:

• Breathlessness with exertion or at rest• Swelling of the legs, ankles and feet• Fatigue• Irregular heartbeats that feel rapid, pounding or uttering• Dizziness, lightheadedness and faintingHeart disease symptoms caused by heart infections. There are

three types of heart infections:• Pericarditis, which a ects the tissue surrounding the heart

(pericardium)• Myocarditis, which a ects the muscular middle layer of the walls

of the heart (myocardium)• Endocarditis, which a ects the inner membrane that separates

the chambers and valves of the heart (endocardium)Varying slightly with each type of infection, heart infection

Why I Don’t Drink

In America, drinking has become socially ac-cepted and even expect-ed at times. More and more Christians think it’s “hip” to drink. For many generations, alcohol wreaked havoc on my ancestors and family. Debauchery, divorce, dependency, death, and destruction followed in the wake of drinking. Most devas-tating to my immediate family was when my two teenage brothers and a teenage cousin were killed in a car accident by a drunk driver. Why do people drink? A few years ago I asked a cousin that question. “Because it makes me happy,” he replied. But does it really? Drinking is a counterfeit of the real, true joy and peace that only Christ can give.

God’s Word reveals the source of deep, abiding joy. “Be you therefore followers of God, as dear children, and walk in love, as Christ hath loved us and has given himself for us an o ering and a sacri- ce to God for a sweet-smelling savor . . . And

be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess, but be lled with the Spirit.” (Ephesians 5:1-20) To have a victorious, joy filled life, apply these two commands to your life.

BE NOT DRUNK. (Ephesians 5:18) Ex-al-coholic and pastor Jaimie Morgan wrote an article entitled, “50 Reasons Why I Don’t Drink”. (www.charisma-mag.com/life/culture) Here are some reasons I don’t drink: 1) I can’t be sober minded as the scriptures commands if I’m not sober; 2) Alcohol has an assignment – de-struction (John 10:10) – I have experienced it personally in my life and the lives of many that I have ministered to; 3) Alcohol is a depressant; 4) Anything that de-presses should be avoided; 5) I don’t want my children or anyone else to stumble by fol-lowing my example; 6)

Alcohol skews my judgement and leaves me worse not better; 7) Alcohol is addictive; 8) Alcohol kills brain cells and is a counterfeit that provides a false peace; 9) e Bible says that drunkards will not enter the kingdom of God (I Corinthians 6:9-10); 10) Being drunk starts with one drink; 11) Alcohol equals broken lives, health, marriages, and dreams; 12) What about drinking in modera-tion? What about por-nography in modera-tion? What lying in moderation? What about adultery in mod-eration? 13) “I don’t get drunk – I only have one or two drinks” – If it didn’t a ect you anyway – you would drink soda; 14) Alcohol fills my mind with impure thoughts and lowers my resolve to resist tempta-tion; 15) I should never look to a glass or bottle for relaxation or joy which can only really be found in Jesus Christ.

BE FILLED WITH THE SPIRIT. (Ephesians 5:18-20) is is the real thing! On the day of Pentecost 120 believers worshipping God, were filled with the Holy

Spirit . The crowd thought they were drunk. Peter stood and told them they were not, but that the outpouring of the Spirit was a ful ll-ment of Joel’s prophecy. (Acts 2:1-4, 12-18) I call it a drink at Joel’s place. Jesus said, “If any man thirst, let him come unto me and drink. He that believeth on Me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.” (John 7:37-38) Drinking of the Holy spirit brings true satisfaction and lasting joy.

I don’t drink alcohol because Jesus gives rivers of living water. How can you have your soul thirst quenched? Believe on Jesus. (John 3:16) Ask God for the gi of the Holy Spirit. (Luke 11:13) Be con-stantly filled with the Holy Spirit as you gather with other believers to praise and worship in “psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing, and making melody in your heart to the Lord.” (Ephesians 5:19-20)

• It was Polish-born American rabbi and phi-losopher Abraham Joshua

Heschel who made the following sage observa-tion: "When I was young, I admired clever people. Now that I am old, I admire kind people."

• In medieval France, if a married woman kissed

or allowed herself to be kissed by a man other than her husband, she could be found guilty of adultery.

• In the summer of 1100, King William II of England went for a hunt

in the New Forest, bring-ing along, of course, an entourage of nobles. One of his attendants, Walter Tirel, had a good oppor-tunity to target their quarry, and the king urged, "Shoot! Walter, in heaven's name!" Tirel did, indeed, shoot, but the arrow evidently rico-cheted o a tree and hit the king, killing him.

• Early cars in the United States didn't have

steering wheels; they were maneuvered by using a control similar to a joy-stick.

• All of today's house-cats are descended from one particular kind of Middle Eastern wildcat.

• In what is now M i n n e s o t a , e a r l y European settlers came across a lake Native Americans had named " C h a r g o g g o g o m a n chaugagochaubunagunga

ARIES (March 21 to April 19) A gracious Lamb can learn more about a problem- lled situation than one who is openly suspicious of what could be happening. A friend might o er some well-di-rected advice.TAURUS (April 20 to May 20) Getting adjusted to an unexpected change might be di cult for the Bovine who prefers things to go according to plan. But help could come from a most welcome source.GEMINI (May 21 to June 20) is could be a good time to get a head start on those career-related plans. e sooner you check out the pluses and minuses, the sooner you can act on your information.CANCER (June 21 to July 22) A personal situation you thought would no longer present a problem suddenly could produce some sur-prises. Try to sort things out with the help of trusted colleagues.LEO (July 23 to August 22) An upcoming move holds both antici-pation and anxiety for Leos and Leonas who have some big deci-sions to make. Advice is plentiful, but it’s up to you to decide which way you want to go.VIRGO (August 23 to September 22) Someone from a previous proj-ect could provide valuable guid-ance on how to handle a current problem, especially where it might involve a legal matter.LIBRA (September 23 to October

22) A business situation presents some unexpected complications. But rather than try to handle them all at once, it would be best to deal with them one at a time.SCORPIO (October 23 to Novem-ber 21) You just might get what you want, despite the odds against it. In any event, be sure to thank all those people involved who believed in you and went to bat for you.SAGITTARIUS (November 22 to December 21) Before you even hint at an accusation, remember that you’ll have to prove what you say.
