Eighteen year old, Salena In has made the daring & controversial decision to join the marines. “…it gives me purpose, pride, and [sense of] loyalty,” says In.

BLOCK sat down with In, who was surprisingly open on her current journey and future plans.

SALENA: “Once I’m an official marine, and I’ve gotten my ass kicked in recruit training, I not only share the same uniform as the person to my left and right, but I’ll [gain] a bonding experience. It gives me a sense of belonging & gives me the chance to challenge myself. I’m scared shitless but it’s my fear that’s driving me to keep this dream alive.

“You know the quote? ‘The dream is free but the hustle is sold separately.’ It may sound crazy but…it’s my fear that’s pushing me. It’s gonna be one hell of a challenge but one I’m willing to take.I’m tired of my ordinary life…I need excitement, something different! And being a marine is definitely something different. I mean, who wouldn’t wanna be an all time bad ass?”
