CARTER CALVERT

Carter Calvert is best known for originating her role in the Tony nom inated, "It Ain't Nothin' But The Blues" on Broadway. The New York Times wrote, "Carter Calvert effervesces: her voice echoes chimes in the night" and "her smoldering grip on Fever is positively dangerous." Previously, Ms. Calvert appeared in the World Premiere of "Forbidden Vegas" in a role she originated. New York credits include the Broadway, Original Cast Album and touring productions of "It Ain't Noth in' But the Blues:' Off-Broadway she appeared in "Forbidden Broadway" and "The Thing About Men" at the Promenade Theatre . Ms. Calvert toured Europe in "Smokey Joe's Cafe:' played Grizabella in the national tour of "Cats:• and

appeared as the title role in '½.lways, Patsy Cline:• She has appeared in numerous roles in regional theaters around the country.

ROBERT DUSOLD

Robert's New York credits in the last year include "Mimi le Duck" opposite Earth a Kitt. Off Broadway, he played the title role in "Don Imbroglio" at the New York Music Theater Festival as well as Ned in the Drama Desk nominated "The Audience." Broadway and National Tour credits include Jason Green in "The Producers;' Javert and Valjean in "Les Miserables;' Monsieur Andre in "Phan-tom of the Opera;' Old Deuteronomy in "Cats;' Pete in Hal Prince's "Showboat;' assorted roles in "Jekyll and Hyde;' "Kiss of the Spider-woman" and "Chicago:• Robert recently played Harry Bright in the Las Vegas production of "Mamrna Mia!"

RoBEVAN

Rob Evan starred in the original Broadway cast of "Jekyll & Hyde:' playing the title roles for three years and over 600 performances. Rob also starred on Broadway in Disney's "Tarzan" playing the role of Kerchak at the Richard Rodgers Theater. Rob also appeared on Broadway as Jean Valjean in "Les Miserables;' and was chosen to lead the critically acclaimed National Touring Company to its history-making stop on Broadway. Most recently, he starred as the sadistic Orin Scrivello D.D.S. in "Little Shop of Horrors" with Joey Fatone from *NSYNC on Broadway. Rob also had the pleasure of singing the role of the Count von KroJock in Jim Steinman's "Dance of the Vampires" at the Minksoff Theater. Recordings include Trans -Siberian Orchestra's The Lost Christmas (Lava/ Atlantic), Jekyll & Hyde (OBC, Atlantic), The Civil War (Atlantic), The Broadway Musicals of 1940 (BayView), The Prince and the Pauper (OOBC, JAY), Johnny Guitar (OOBC), Jekyll & Hyde: Resurrection (KOCH/Globalvision), and The Dream Engine's upcoming debut album (Ravenous). This spring will mark the release of his long awaited solo debut album on Legacy Records!

RITA HARVEY

Rita performed on Broadway in the role of Hodel in the latest revival of "Fiddler on the Roof;' directed by David Leveaux and starring Rosie O'Donell, Harvey Fierstein and Alfred Molina. After covering the two older daughters, she took over the role of Hodel and can see seen in the role at the Lincoln Center Archives. She made her Broadway debut performing the lead role of Christine Daee in "'The Phantom of the Opera" after two and a half years performing the role with the second national tour. Rita created the role of Lady Edith in the off-Broadway hit musical "The Prince and the Pauper:' At the Irish Repertory Theatre, she played the role of Ethel Chichester in "Peg O' My Heart:' Rita also created the role of Elizabeth in the highly -acclaimed concept CD/DVD of "Frankenstein the Musical;' available on Amazon.com.

DANNY ZOLLI

Although best known for his monumental number of performances starring as Jesus & Judas in more than 23 productions (including Broadway and six National/International Tours) of "Jesus Christ Superstar" worldwide, Danny Zolli has been continuing to thrill audiences with his work on the concert stage and in the recording studio. Nationaliy and internationally, Danny has starred as Che' in "Evita;' Joseph in "Joseph ... Dreamcoat;' The Arbiter in "Chess;' Tobias in "Sweeney Todd;' Candide in "Candide;• FIX Fitzterwald in "Starmites;' among many, many others. He has shared the stage and perfOJmed with such luminaries as Three Tenor's opera legend Jose Carreras, Carl Anderson, The Gypsy Kings, Ted Neeley, Dennis De Young (STYX), Linda Eder, Syreeta Wright, Betty Buckley, Yvonne Elliman, Peter Frampton, Dr. Maya Angelou, Trisha Yearwood, Roger Daltry (The Who), Phoebe Snow, Rita Moreno, Felix Cavalari (The Rascals), Larry Gatlin , Hal Holbrook, Leslie West (Mountain), Zach Starky (son of Ringo Starr). ROGER COHEN - DRUMS

Roger has performed with Martin Short, Rita Moreno, Sir Cliff Richard, Kathy Lee Gifford, Bernadette Peters, Betty Buckley, Dom DeLouise, Christy Brinkley, Rupert Holmes, Lorraine Bracco & more. Roger has also worked with soap opera stars Martha Byrne and Michael Park ("As The World Turns") and Progressive rock superstars James Labrie and Jordan Rudess (Dream Theater). He performed on national television with Rob Evan ("Jekyll & Hyde") and Jim Steinman at The U.S. Open. Roger was the drummer for the off-Broadway show "The Joys of Sex."

Roger demonstrated his exciting approach to soloing when he took First Place honors in New Jersey in Guitar Center's National

Drum-Off Competition, earning raves from Danny Gottlieb (Pat Metheny's drummer). Roger's

writing has been published in "Modern Drummer" magazine, and he was featured in their "On the Move" column. Roger can be heard on the soundtrack to Carmen Electra's recent film, "Searching for Bobby D." He is also on national radio jingles for "Lycos" and "Shock Coffee:'

Roger is very excited about his new project, The Grasshopper Band, featuring the multi-talented Ella K. Shmella.

BOOKER KI NG - C OMPOS ER/ BAS SIST

Booker King is a native of New York City. Booker grad uated from Five Towns College and studied under Bob Cunningham, Richard Davis and Homer Mensch. Booker has toured the world laying down powerfu l grooves and orchestral melodies. Among the artists he has performed a11d/or recorded with are Jane Siberry, Angelique Kidjo, Kelis, Grant Green Jr., Santana, Defunkt Big Band, Yoko Kanno, Corey Glover, Dean Brown, Mary Wilson, Stephanie Mills, Paul Shapiro, Paul Simon, Bill Sims and the American Roots Orchestra, Femi Kuti, Billy Cobham, Bobby Caldwell and Lila Downs.

NEIL BERG - PIANO/COMPOSER/LYRICIST

Neil is the composer/lyricist of the hit Off-Broadway musical "The Prince and the Pauper;' which ran for two years at the Lambs Theater in New York City. The New York Times raved, "(Berg's) music soars on Angel's wings:' The original cast CD is released internationally on Jay Records, sheet music published by Hal Leonard, and licensing by Samuel French Inc. Songs from this show are also featured with many other classic songs in the official Off-Broadway Songbook, published by Hal Leonard. Neil is currently the composer for the new Broadway-bound musical "Grumpy Old Men;' based on the Warner Brothers movie classic starring Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau, and is scheduled to open in 2010/2011. Neil is currently collaborating with Pulitzer Prize winning playwright Robert Schenkkan on a new rock musical called "The 12:• Neil's "100 Years of Broadway" Concert series has toured to more than 250 cities in the past five years and is considered one of the best and most successful touring Broadway revues.

KREMERATA BALTICA Tuesday, November 9th, 7:30pm Wait Chapel Kremerata Baltica (a Grammy-award winning chamber orchestra founded by Gidon Kremer) is composed exclusively of talented young musicians (average age 27) from the Baltic States and is supported by the Ministries of Culture of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. Program includes Divertimento of Bartok, Schumann's Cello Concerto in A minor, Op. 129 (violin version with Gidon Kremer as solo ist), and selections from their newest CD "De Profundis: ' featuring music by composers Serksnyte, Paert, Shostakovich, Nyman, Auerbach and Piazolla.

There will be a Secrest Signature pre-performance talk at 6:40 p.m. in the Balcony Room of Wait Chapel with David Levy, Professor of Music.

Thursday, January 27 th, 7:30pm Wait Chapel An unprecedented collaboration between three cultural visionaries: David Krakauer, champion of klezmer mu.sic and world -class clarinet ist; legendary funk trombonist and arranger Fred Wesley, celebrated for his work with James Brown and George Clinton; and hip -hop renegade and beat architect Socalled .

TORO GUSTAVSEN JAZZ ENSEMBLE Thw-sday, March 24th, 7:30pm Brendle Reci tal Hall The ensemble compromised of Jarle Vespestad (drums), Mats Eilertsen (double bass), Tore Brunborg (saxop hones), and Gustavsen (piano) displays a striking, spacious Nord ic-Caribbean-gospel-bluesy fresh feel while presenting Gustavsen's original compositions.

There will be a Secrest Signature pre performance talk with Scott Klein, Department of English and jazz aficionado, at 6:40 p.m . in Room 208 adjacent to lobby of Brend le Hall.

Wake Forest University expresses its deep appreciation to Mrs. Marion Secrest and her husband, the late Dr. Willis Secrest,

for generously endowing the Secrest Artists Series.

At the conclusion of the performance there will be a short question and answer session with some of the cast and musicians. Audience members are asked to move close to the stage.

Ushers for tonight's performance are members of Alpha Phi Omega, national coed service fraternity, and Kappa Kappa Psi, a national college band service fraternity, recently instaUed on campus.

The Secrest Series extends a special thank you to Dr. David Hagy, Director of the University Orchestra, WFU Department of Music and specialist in American Musical Theatre, for his Secrest Signature pre-performance talk.
