What special skills or experience will you bring to
the Board? I previously served on the Basics Board for 8 years as
secretary. I have also served as 4-H dairy leader in Center
Township, as a member of the Town Zoning Board, and as a
board member of DAR, Janesville Chapter.
Having had four out of 8 in my immediate family diagnosed
with cancer, I have done a great deal of research. I have a
good deal of knowledge concerning supplements, herbs, and
healthful foods, whether it is growing them or preparing them.
What role do you think Basics Co-op offers in our
community? Basics plays an important role in Janesville and the surrounding
communities because it is a one-of-a-kind store. Basics helps
the local economy by looking to local farmers first to meet
their needs. They partner with local businesses for special
events, work with local schools teaching nutrition and
providing nutritious snacks, and fill the community’s need for
natural foods, vitamins and a wealth of information on how to
live a healthy lifestyle. They also donate to many local
charities.
Dr. Carrie Kaiser
Why do you want to be elected
to the Basics Cooperative Board? I often hear people say they’re surprised that a place like Ba-
sics can survive in this community. I’m not. I want to be re-
elected to the Board because I continue to be passionate
about and inspired by the mission and goals of Basics Co-op,
its staff and its ever growing number of members. I want to be
re-elected to the Board because it is another way of being part
of this invaluable local asset.
What special skills or experience will you bring to
the Board? I bring my experiences as a…
-Local small business owner
-Licensed Naturopathic Doctor serving Janesville and the
surrounding community
-Current Basics Board member (for the past 4 years)
-Longtime member and supporter of local Co-ops
What role do you think Basics Co-op offers in our
community? Two very important roles I think Basics plays in this
community are ACCESS and EDUCATION. Seven days of the
week there is an abundant supply of organic produce, as well
as many other goods and services that are not otherwise easily
accessible in or around Janesville. In addition to the friendly
staff who are ready to share their knowledge, the array of
topics presented in the community room and services offered
to the public is extensive and unmatched anywhere in this
area. Basics is a hub for things good and healthy, whether it’s
food for your belly or food for your brain.
