She currently spends a great deal of her time

working with hospitals seeking BabyFriendly

status as a consultant and educator.

Laurel received her training with Union Institute

and University, Healthy Children, DONA, AL-

ACE, CAPPA, Birthworks, Whole Birth Yoga

and Prenatal Parenting. She has also passed the

International Board of Lactation Consultant Ex-

aminers. She strives to provide the latest tech-

niques, research and programs to her clients by

attending conferences and workshops in the

birth and lactation field.

Laurel is board certified as a lactation consultant,

childbirth educator, labor doula, lactation educa-

tor™, Prenatal ParentingTM Instructor, and Pre

and Postpartum fitness educator. She is the

CAPPA Executive Director of Lactation Pro-

grams and trains Lactation Educators™ for

CAPPA certification. She also works with the

USBC on the Lactation Professionals Constella-

tion team. Recently she served as Customer

Advocate for InJoy Birth and Parenting offering

continuing education for education for profes-

sionals via webinars, podcasts and presentations.

support systems in the community and identify 2 ways to improve or partner with community support for the breastfeeding mother in public or when

returning to work or school.

Hospital: Participants will identify hospital practices

that have had positive impacts on breastfeeding ini-tiation and duration rates and discuss difficult cases and come up with 2 solutions for each case study.
