We ask that you please be considerate of others who may wish to pray during this time. A priest will be available for the Sacrament of Reconciliation during these times. St. Therese Church: Monday, 2:00-6:00 PM St. Mary Nativity Church: Tuesday, 2:00-6:00 PM St. Joseph Church: Wednesday, 2:00-6:00 PM St. John the Evangelist Church: Thursday, 2:00-6:00 PM During this time, when we are asked to stay at home and cannot get to Confession, let us listen to the words of our Holy Father, Pope Francis: “I know that many of you go to confession before Easter...Many will say to me: ‘But Father...I can’t leave the house and I want to make my peace with the Lord. I want Him to embrace me...How can I do that unless I find a priest?”. Do what the catechism says. It’s very clear. If you don’t find a priest to go to confession, speak to God. He’s your Father. Tell Him the truth: ‘Lord, I did this and this and this. Pardon me.’ Ask His forgiveness with all your heart with an act of contrition, and promise Him, ‘afterward I will go to confession.’ You will return to God’s grace immediately. You yourself can draw near, as the catechism teachers us, to God’s forgiveness without having a priest at hand.” The Catechism of the Catholic Church, N. 1452, says: “When it arises from a love by which God is loved above all else, contrition is called ‘perfect’ - contrition of charity. Such contrition remits venial sins; it also obtains forgiveness of mortal sins if it includes the firm resolution to have recourse to sacramental confession as soon as possible.” Since Masses are cancelled, while a small thing in the grand scheme right now, some people have asked about their weekly offering. As long as you are fiscally able to give, we appreciate your continued support of the parish. Your contributions assist us in paying the utility bills and other financial obligations. Most importantly, you are helping our church maintain mission commitments to the community in a time when that commitment is more important than ever. If you have not already done so, I encourage you to sign-up for online giving. Visit our parish website at www.faysouth.org or click the link below. On the homepage you will see a box that says, "Online Giving.” You can click the online giving icon or the link below, and you will go to a page to select your parish. Clicking on your parish will take you to the Our Sunday Visitor Online Giving site to set up your online giving account. If you can’t give online, you may mail in or drop off your envelope at the parish offices at 61 N Mount Vernon Avenue. My prayers are with you always! God Bless, Fr.
