WHO ARE
?The Republic of Ireland Billiards and Snooker Association
R.I.B.S.A are the governing body for Billiards and Snooker in the Republic of Ireland and are funded by Sport Ireland. RIBSA are affiliated to the European & World Associations (EBSA) (IBSF), and (WPBSA).
• The RIBSA head office is located in Sport HQ Unit 8, Barrow Valley, Retail Park, Carlow town, County Carlow R93 T2W2.
• R.I.B.S.A are responsible for administering and regulating snooker and billiards at all levels from Under 12, Under 14, Under 16, Under 18 and Under 21. Intermediate, Senior, Ladies and Masters.
• RIBSA develop the sport in conjunction with Provincial Associations and individual clubs.
• RIBSA provide technical and coaching advice to all affiliated parties.
• RIBSA Promote the game to a wider audience using social media, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter plus the world wide web and e-mail.
• The anti-doping rules of the Republic of Ireland Billiards and Snooker Association are the Sport Ireland Anti-Doping Rules.
• RIBSA send players and teams to all official European and World Championships each season.

BILLIARDS & SNOOKER
RIBSA organise Billiards & Snooker events at all levels and ages throughout the country to promote participation and qualify players for International events.
• Under Age Snooker Events run from Under 12 to Under 21• Intermediate Snooker Events - Excludes the elite players• Masters Snooker Events - Over 40 years of age• Senior Snooker Events - Open to everyone• Billiards Events – Open to everyone• Ladies Events – Open to everyone
Each category has a separate ranking list to qualify players for International events.

SNOOKER IN SCHOOLS
The future of any sport relies on participation and our Schools Cue Zones will provide Education and Knowledge to help grow our Sport. RIBSA have developed a Snooker in Schools project.
• Any School can apply to RIBSA for a Garda Vetted Qualified Coach or Referee to visit their school or a nearby club to hold a Cue Zone for the school.
• Application forms are available by emailing [email protected]
• Technical Coaching and advice on the rules of the game will be given on the day.
• Mini Tournaments will be held for students to play. This will encourage enjoyment and increased participation in our sport.
• Certificates will be presented to each student and school who attend.

The Republic Of Ireland Billiards & Snooker Association employ World Snooker Coach PJ Nolan as the RIBSA National Coach and Development Officer
• RIBSA hold Training Camps for all International Events• RIBSA hold Sport Ireland Coaching Courses to qualify RIBSA Coaches• RIBSA hold Junior Developmental days• RIBSA hold training sessions for all our members• RIBSA send PJ with the players / Teams to all International events• RIBSA hold Schools cue zones

REFEREESASSOCIATION
The Republic of Ireland Billiards & Snooker Referees Association organise Referees for all RIBSA Snooker & Billiards events each season.
• The Referees Association provide Referee for all our events.• There are three grades of Referee : Grade 3, 2 and 1.• RIBSA have introduced a new student grade for under 18’s.• Referees are chosen to represent RIBSA for all International Championships.• RIBSA are always looking for additional trainee Referees.• RIBSA hold Seminars Nationwide to qualify referees

LADIES SNOOKER
The Republic of Ireland Billiards & Snooker Ladies Association organise two levels of Ladies Snooker Events to promote participation.
• Senior Events and Intermediate Ladies Events are held on the same day• RIBSA have appointed a Ladies National Coach Michelle Sherwin• Open Ladies fun days are held with PJ Nolan & Michelle Sherwin • 6 Red and Under 21 and Under 14 Championships are also held

INTERNATIONAL
EVENTS
The Republic of Ireland Billiards & Snooker Association compete in all the International events around the World each season.
Ireland have won many events over the years in the (EBSA) European, (IBSF) World and HIBSF Snooker Championships.
• RIBSA Compete in Senior, Masters, Ladies, U-21, U-18, U-16 and U-14 International events
• Players are selected to compete in the above events based on National Ranking.
