(Continued on inside back cover.) JUBILATE DEO
(Psalm 100)
O be joyful in the Lord, all ye lands:
serve the Lord with gladness, and come
before his presence with a song.
Be ye sure the Lord he is God: it is he
that hath made us, and not we
ourselves; we are his people, and the
sheep of his pasture.
O go your way into his gates with
thanksgiving, and into his courts with
praise: be thankful unto him, and speak
good of his Name.
For the Lord is gracious, his mercy is
everlasting: and his truth endureth
from generation to generation.

Alphabetical Index of Entries in the Registers 13-17
INTRODUCTION
Whilst researching the history of my family at the Hyde Park
FHC, I noticed a microfilm purporting to contain miscellaneous
Irish genealogical material. This eventually led me to consult
Canon James B Leslie’s History of the Kilsaran Union at the British
Library, which contained printed extracts from the Dromiskin and
Manfieldstown parish registers, shown in the recently published
IFHS/NA parish register list as having been destroyed in the Four
Courts fire of 1922. To correct this oversight and to bring the
existence of the records to the attention of a wider audience, I
decided to produce a new version of Canon Leslie’s extracts, which
were printed in the form of a surname index. As with all documents
of this nature the original should be consulted to confirm that
entries have been transcribed and indexed accurately.
The following specific points should be borne in mind when
using the transcript:
Dates All dates have been standardised as follows; day in numbers,
month in three letters (abbreviated as necessary), year.
Additional Information Marginal notes and comments from Canon
Leslie’s printed extracts appear in the text in square brackets or
as footnotes.
The Index The index lists in alphabetical order all persons who
were baptised, married and buried at Dromiskin and Manfieldstown
over the periods covered by the transcript.

History of the Churches and Parishes Canon Leslie’s History of the
Union of Kilsaran (1908, reprinted 1986, British Library shelf-
mark: 10390 e22) is the standard work on the subject. The parish
of Manfieldstown was united to the Kilsaran Union in 1873 on the
death of the Rector; there being no Church of Ireland inhabitants,
the church was closed and the ancient font presented to Ardee
Parish Church. The parish of Dromiskin was divided in 1905 on the
retirement of the Rector. The townlands of Babeswood, Dromiskin
(including the church), Drumleck, Milltown Old and Newrath were
united to the Kilsaran Union; the townlands of Commons, Whiterath,
Milltown, Milltown-Grange, Moorestown and Walterstown were united
to Heynestown. Sunday afternoon services were still being held at
Dromiskin Church in 1908.
