The Sylvester Worth County Chamber of Commerce Education Committee presented a check for
$1,500 to Worth County High School (WCHS) on August 20th to finish out the 2014 College Access
Challenge Grant (CACG) that the school earned last school year. The committee presented the
check to WCHS Principal Mr. Scott Chafin and took a tour of the high school's Career, Technical and
Agriculture Education (CTAE) departments while on campus. The Education Committee will be work-
ing with our high school again this year to acquire another
CACG Grant for 2015. The Georgia
Partnership for Excellence in Education
through the CACG is providing Mini Grants
to Chambers of Commerce to help get the
message out that education matters.

Please send a parent note or doctor’s
excuse when your child is absent from
school. Students are limited to 8 parent
notes per school term. If a student is
sent home by the school nurse students
need to bring a parent note or doctors
excuse as well. Even though the nurse
sends them home doesn’t excuse them
for missing classes.
After school tutoring for Math
has begun and will be held
each Tuesday and Thursday
from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.
Math tutoring will be
located in Mrs. McCleary’s
classroom #121. Please
encourage your child to take advantage of these opportunities.
Students will be required to furnish their own transportation.

The Elementary and Secondary Education Assistance Act of 1965 (ESEA)[Section 1111 (6)(A)] These regulations allow you to learn more about your child’s teachers’ training and credentials. We are happy to provide this
information to you. At any time, you may ask:
Whether the teacher met state qualifications and certification requirements for the grade level and subject he/she is teach-ing,
Whether the teacher received an emergency or conditional certificate through which state qualifications were waived, and
What undergraduate or graduate degrees the teacher holds, including graduate certificates and additional degrees, and
major(s) or area(s) of concentration. You may also ask whether your child receives help from a paraprofessional. If your
child receives this assistance, we can provide you with information about the paraprofessional’s qualifications.
Our staff is committed to helping your child develop the academic knowledge and critical thinking he/she needs to succeed
in school and beyond. That commitment includes making sure that all of our teachers and paraprofessionals are highly skilled.
