support and so much more. In order
for these decisions to be made it is
important that 75% of all members
come to the meeting. If you are not a

Meet Joe Weidenbenner, newly elected Deacon
over the Men’s Ministry at Walnut Hill Bible
Church. His term began this past September, being
faithful to respond to God’s calling to this position.
“In the past year God impressed the need for the
men of Baraboo to be in close relationship with one
another, encouraging one another to grow in their
passion and devotion to Jesus Christ,” shares Joe.
“I enjoy serving as a connector. In college, I served
on the executive team as the Small Group Coordina-
tor for InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, which fos-
tered community with a diverse population.”
Joe and Christy, his wife of 18 years, have been
attending WHBC for the last five years. The couple
have three boys: Aaron, Joshua and Matthew.
“My favorite thing about this ministry is that I get
to meet and hangout with some really awesome
guys.”
“As iron sharpens iron,
And one man sharpens another.”
Proverbs 27:17

The Men’s Ministry Joe Weidenbenner
The really unique thing about this ministry
is that it is just focused on men and run by
men. If men are solely devoted to Christ, then
every relationship around them benefits. De-
veloping relationships among the men of
WHBC encourages and supports them in their
walk with Christ. Men are crucial to the
church.
Please pray for effective communication
and that more men will have a desire to be
involved in ministry opportunities.
Check out the list of men’s events in our
brochure in the foyer and come! Here are
some upcoming ways to join us:
There are men’s Bible studies every day of
the work week, excluding Fridays.
If you like to get physical, there are various
sports gatherings during the year, including
golf and softball.
If you like the outdoors, come to our annual
ice fishing family day or spring campout.
If you like food, come on the 1st and 3rd
Thursday every month for Thursday Knights
study. Eat breakfast and get prayed for on the
first Saturday of each month. Enter our chili
cook-off contest held each year in the fall.
If you want to go deeper with God and meet
weekly with other men, join a TriCord group.
These are groups of 3 or 4 men who meet
wherever is comfortable. These are meant as
places that men can be supported, vulnerable
and honest in how we live our lives.
Prayer Breakfast, on the first Saturday of each
month 7:30 AM - Breakfast 8:00 AM - Message
Basketball, Monday evenings, fall & winter-

No Regrets Men’s Conference. Details on pg 6.
New Chapter Sometimes Means Saying Good-Bye
I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the
memories of God, to present your bodies as
a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to
God, which is your spiritual worship.
~Romans 12:1
Faithfully serving Walnut Hill Bible Church with
his musical abilities for over a decade, Brayton
Hackbarth is packing up his flute and moving on.
Leading worship with his God-given talents on
piano, keyboard, flute, and uileann pipes, he found a
special passion for Irish-style music.
Being newly married, Brayton and Amber are
following God’s calling to move to Texas. Please
pray for Brayton and Amber during this new life
transition.
Coming off of Veteran’s Day and into the holidays, there is an opportunity for
us to serve those who serve us by protecting our freedoms. “From Home to our
Heroes” is an organization focused on sending care packages to the deployed
troops. Led by moms of military men who work to support these deployed
marine troops. There is a list of items to donate but the biggest need is a cash
donation as every box costs $20 to send to the Sandbox. Drop off deadline is
Sunday, December 9th. For questions please contact Lynn Stuckey.
[email protected] . Find a list on the final page of this newsletter.

attendees Lynn and Phil Stuckey.
An Opportunity to Serve Those Who are Serving
Be true to yourself...
Something people close to me know that clichés really drive me crazy! At best I simply roll my eyes and at worst my
adrenaline starts to pump as I get irritated by the lack of thought that has gone into the statement often in the midst of
difficult situations. “Be true to yourself” is a cliché that we hear often that will trigger one of the more visceral
responses inside me, but this month it has been a source of reflection and conviction as I have spent time in the book
of 1 Peter.
The first thing to catch my attention in 1 Peter was the instructions for believers: be obedient (1:14, 22); “be
holy” (1:16); love (1:22); don’t allow malice, deceit, hypocrisy, envy or slander have a place in your life(2:1);
proclaim Christ (2:9); submit to our earthly authorities (2:13-14); honor everyone (2:17). Those are only some of the
instructions from the first two chapters and at times, despite our constant protest that the Christian life is not merely a
list of do’s and don'ts, that is what it becomes.
The second thing to catch me was that Peter had a lot to say about who we are. According to Peter we are born
again to a living hope (1:3); heirs (1:4); recipients of grace (1:10); obedient children (1:14); ransomed (1:18);
believers in God (1:21); born again (1:23); chosen and precious (2:4); holy priesthood (2:5); chosen race, royal
priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession (2:9); God’s people, recipients of His mercy (2:10); living
servants of God (2:16); healed (2:24). What an incredible identity that we have as believers!
The third thing I noticed (arguably because I am a bit dense) is that Peter had a lot to say about who God
is. According to Peter, God is merciful (1:3); resurrected (1:3); powerful (1:5); worthy of praise, glory and honor
(1:7); the giver of grace (1:13); holy (1:15-16); impartial judge (1:17); He bore our sins (2:24); healer (2:24);
Shepherd and overseer of our souls (2:25).
“Be true to yourself”... The culture uses this phrase as a way to say to do what makes you happy, but as believers
this statement should be a call to have our identity in Christ. The Bible has so much to say about who we are through
Christ and that should be our true identity. This is where our conduct is valuable, our works are an outpouring of the
transformational work that God is doing in our hearts. My hope and prayer is that we can live lives of obedience and
