Quezon CityQuality CommunityThe Payatas Challenge
The unmanaged dumping of garbage in Payatas since the 1970’s made the dumpsite environs
dangerous & unhygienic, with fires due to spontaneous combustion
breaking out every now and then.
…in July, 2000 the Payatas dumpsite experienced a trash slide which left more than 250 people dead & several hundreds missing.
The challenge in Payatas is lessening the environmental impact
of its continuing operation
