PARO-CAHO Collective Agreement

Covers entitlements such as:t hours

• Compensation and Benefits• Vacation and other leaves• Call schedules, duty hours• Pregnancy and Parental Leave & Benefits• Call stipends

Before You Start

• Obtain your educational registration (license) from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO)

• Obtain your medical liability protection from the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)

• Get your needed immunizations

Resident Loan Interest Relief Program (RLIRP)• This MOHLTC Program provides eligible

medical residents to defer monthly payments on federal and provincial government student loans during residency. Loans must be unconsolidated.

• Participants must agree to practice for 5 years in Ontario (no geographic restriction).

Moving Advice• Before deciding on a place to live, inquire about:

hydro, water pressure, noise from neighbours, air circulation/conditioning, screens on windows, working electrical sockets, pets, parking, ability to paint, storage locker

• Make sure your new address is easily accessible to: transportation, grocery stores, work, etc.

• Arrange to have unwanted furniture picked up ahead of time

• Take unwanted clothing and furniture to Goodwill before you move

• Start writing down all of the people and organizations that you receive mail from in advance so that you can update them on your new address
