Martha Mobley, Editor November 2016 Issue Hi CASA Members and Friends: Our Re-Up Social in October was very successful with many for- mer members returning and new members joining. Our membership year runs from January 1st until Dec. 31st so there is still time to join. Chigger Wood's Music brought out many good dancers and made a Social to remember. November is here! Where has the year gone? November brings to mind the beginning of closing another busy and hopefully profitable year. More impor- tantly November brings Thanks- giving when we show gratitude and reverence for our lives and family! Enjoying Family gatherings and functions is very important for a persons well being and general health. Please value and take advantage of any opportunity to initiate, or attend, a family func- tion! Each CASA Member has chosen to make CASA our Shag Family! Each member is strongly en- couraged to attend, participate and enjoy, sharing dances and thoughts with great persons in a common social theme. Our Nomination Committee, led by past president Larry Howell will submit recommended candi- dates for future CASA Officers. The floor will be open for addi- tional nominations at the Annual Meeting and Elections during the Social December 11th. Any- one nominated, or considering serving is strongly encouraged to have a strong future of CASA at heart and be willing to work hard toward CASA's Progress. Research by Health Organiza- tions has repeatedly shown the many benefits of dancing for older persons - "gray hairs" like myself and others in our Shag Culture. Benefits include better balance, agility, aerobic power, endurance, flexibility, overall physical function and health. Also a better feeling of well be- ing and social aspects. Most im- portant would be defeating the onset of dementia!! As long as I can drag myself onto the dance floor, I plan to be there and ex- pect to be with each of you! DJ for November will be John Adkins from Fayetteville and a FASA Member. John is an excel- lent Shag Dancer who is very familiar with the best Beach and Line Dance Music. 2017 SOS Cards are here! Please see Jay to purchase your The President’s Letter card now and avoid the rush, and panic, to purchase your card at Midwinter, which is just a few weeks away Janu- ary 13th. thru 15th. Also cards are $5.00 less - $30.00 here versus $35.00 at Midwinter. Looking forward to seeing each of you at our November 13th Social at Capt John's Dockside Seafood Restaurant. Please save me a dance! Tom Pritchett CASA President
