What is Ikhlas?Purifying the deeds from the faults or the needs of the self. Before you do any good deeds you need to purify it. Why am I doing the

good deeds? While doing the good you need to purify your intention.

Purifying the good deeds with the intention from the imperfections which can destroy the deeds – the imperfections are the self.

What are the imperfections which cause our deeds to be full of impurities?

Imperfections are when doing good deeds you are:

Seeking peoples praise – Ar Riyaa

Wanting people to honour you

Wanting to remove peoples dispraise of you

Seeking peoples help in return

Seeking peoples love

Wanting any benefit

In order to avert any harm

A person having Ikhlas will have:

tranquillity and

their actions will go towards Allah. They will be a slave for One Master

Ikhlas has a great power. We want to have the Power of Ikhlas.

Even if you do a little good deed with even a little ikhlas the rewards will be multiplied.

Hadith: A man was walking on the road and removed the harm on the road – Allah forgave him for all his sins. Ikhlas made him to do this action – only Allah will appreciate this deed. Doing the deeds that people don’t appreciate can take you to Paradise and remove all your sins. Hadith: A man indulged in Paradise because he cut a tree which was harming the people.

The Power of Ikhlas will make one to enter Paradise and expiate your sins

Chapter (31) sūrat luq'mān:32

The Power of Ikhlas will remove the distress. Hadith: Three people were trapped in a cave. While in the cave they spoke to Allah subhana wa ta'ala about the pure deeds they did in life. With the one pure deed each one of them did in life Allah subhana wa ta'ala removed the rock from the cave.

Narrated Abu Huraira: I said: "O Allah's Apostle! Who will be the luckiest person, who will gain your intercession on the Day of

Resurrection?" Allah's Apostle said: O Abu Huraira! "I have thought that none will ask me about it before you as I know your longing for the (learning of) Hadiths. The luckiest person who will have my intercession on the Day of Resurrection will be the

one who said sincerely from the bottom of his heart "None has the right to be worshipped but Allah."

The Power of Ikhlas is to have the intercession of Prophet Muhammad sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam by saying La illaaha illa Allah purely from the heart.

Chapter (48) sūrat l-fatḥ (The Victory) 48:18 Certainly was Allah pleased with the believers when they pledged allegiance to you, [O Muhammad], under the tree, and He knew what was in their hearts, so He sent down tranquillity upon

them and rewarded them with an imminent conquest. This ayah is about those who made a pledge to follow Islam under the tree. Allah subhana wa ta'ala knew what was in their hearts – Al Ikhlas. This was a promise made sincerely for the Sake of Allah.

The Power of Ikhlas is to have the Pleasure of Allah. The Power of Ikhlas – Tranquillity will descend upon you.

The Power of Ikhlas – Will elevate the person in rank in the dunya and in the akhirah. This is what remains when you do anything for the Sake of Allah. The Power of Ikhlas – Will give you steadfastness – make you firm on the way of goodness and make you to continue on the way of goodness until you die.

Multiple rewards Expiation of the sins Paradise Remove the distress Safeguard from sins Safeguard from shaitan Intercession of Prophet Muhammad sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam Pleasure of Allah Victory Ease your affairs Elevate you in the dunya & Akhirah Steadfastness

Secrets of Ikhlas The secret of Ikhlas is a secret a between Allah subhana wa ta'ala and His slave. Ikhlas cannot be expressed, Ikhlas does not show itself. The angels don’t know about this Ikhlas in order to write it – the angels writing your records cannot see Ikhlas, only Allah will see the Ikhlas you have in your heart. The shaitan cannot discover the Ikhlas in

your heart in order to spoil it. The enemy will not know that you have Ikhlas in order to have the evil eye against you (envy).

We ask Allah to grant us the Ikhlas. Ameen.
