What are Good Manners?
Courtesy, politeness or having
are all about respecting others and yourself.
Good manners mean you don’t make others
uncomfortable around you. It’s not just about
eating quietly and neatly, it’s about paying
attention to the person who is talking to you and
treating every individual equally regardless of their
appearance, beliefs and backgrounds. Good
manners imply being cheerful and generous to
others and valuing diversity.
How would you feel if someone talked to your
friend but turned his back on you?
Or if someone pushed you out of the way to get
the seat you were about to sit on?
How would you feel if someone let the door slam
in your face as you were about to walk through it?
Or if someone shared your things but never
shared anything of theirs?
How would you feel if someone never said
‘please’, ‘excuse me’ or ‘thank you’?
Good manners is about considering the feelings
of other people, and being the kind of person
that others will like and respect.
Example of Good Manners
to everyone you meet.
You will never regret being too polite, but you
might regret being rude.
Use the magic words as often as possible:
Hello, Please, Excuse me, Sorry
And these two most important words:
Thank you
Do not interrupt people and learn to be a good
listener. This will help you see the world
through the of others.
Show your appreciation at every
opportunity, even for small things.
When you show your appreciation to
others, you will get back some of what
you give. Appreciation is always appreciated.

Respect the adults and others around the
school. Hold the doors for them. Let
others through first.
Greet everyone politely when you see
them. Ask how their day is going.
YOU MATTER, YOUR WORK MATTERS ,
OUR SCHOOL MATTERS – Show this by
keeping your uniform, your books and our
school neat and tidy.
Line up sensibly and quietly as the adults
have asked.
BE THE BEST PERSON YOU CAN POSSIBLY
BE.
Jesus made the ultimate sacrifice for us. This
shows us that we should be selfless and put
others before ourselves.
“Whatsoever you do to the
least of my brothers , that
you do onto me”
How we treat one another
is how we treat Jesus.
Thumb (people who are close to you) These are your close friends and family, often the first you think about when you pray. Give thanks to God and ask his protection on your parents, siblings, friends, and classmates.
Pointer (people who point the way) These are leaders in your life, such as teachers, adults, priests and nuns. Offer God your thanksgiving for them and ask him to help them in their important work.
Tall Finger (people in authority) The big people in the world need prayer too. Ask God to give wisdom to our government, military, and police.
Ring Finger (people who are weak) This is your weakest finger. We should remember others who are sick, live in poverty, or are treated badly. Pray that Jesus would give them new strength.
Little Finger (your own needs) God wants to hear your needs too, especially when you put others first. Pray for your own growth in mind, body, and spirit.

"Whatsoever you do to the least of my brothers, that you do unto me. When I was hungry, you gave me to eat; When I was thirsty, you gave me to drink. Now enter into the home of My Father.
Whatsoever you do to the least of my brothers, that you do unto me. When I was homeless, you opened your door; When I was naked, you gave me your coat. Now enter into the home of My Father.
When I was weary, you helped me find rest.
When I was anxious, you calmed all my fears.
Now enter into the home of My Father.
Whatsoever you do to the least of my
brothers, that you do unto me."
