Developing kick-ass learning is not for the faint of heart. Giving a Generation X learner a talking head with a “next”

button is a recipe for destruction. They’ll tune out and start reading mail (or IM-ing their friends, or playing Doom, or

listening to tunes on their i-Pod).

You’ve got to move up to the next level of interactive customer-driven learning using techniques like blogs,

podcasting, networked communities, wikis, viral videos and other cutting edge tools where the inmates build the asylum.

Podcasts, Wikis, Blogs – Oh My!

A podcast is a collection of digital media files which is distributed over the Internet, often using syndication feeds, for playback on portable media players and personal computers.

A wiki is software that allows users to easily create, edit, and link pages together. Wikis are often used to create collaborative websites and to power community websites.

A blog (short for “web log”) is a website where entries are commonly displayed in reverse chronological order. "Blog" can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog.

User-built

content isn't free,

just a different model

You can use

moderation, if it's in

moderation

Page 34: The Power Of Babble 011309

Copy other pioneers, don't rebuild the wheel

Rich content

resources will add value

Page 39: The Power Of Babble 011309

A public/private model usually won't increase benefits

Page 40: The Power Of Babble 011309

First provide the value, then build the audience

Page 44: The Power Of Babble 011309

Content is never done -- you just keep planting and pruning

Page 45: The Power Of Babble 011309

Focus the

story, don't gate-keep

Page 46: The Power Of Babble 011309

Thank goodness,

we’re almost done
