lorem ipsum dolor met set february 2014 Hello and welcome to The Pentecostals of Sydney where you can experience new life in Christ! This week we introduced our Church Theme for 2014; Magnanimous. It’s a strange word that we rarely use but it contains all that we ought to strive for and aim towards. That is to have a ‘Big Heart’, ‘Generous Soul’ or ‘Kind Spirited’. That’s what Jesus came to earth to bring with his message of grace and forgiveness. In a time of religious hypocrisy and legalism, Jesus taught, at the Sermon on the mount, that God’s children should be magnanimous. He instructed them to go the extra mile, turn the other cheek and give more than what was asked. In other words don’t just do the minimum but go over and above what the world sees as acceptable. God has a different standard to this world. Our society emphasizes equality or this sense of ‘Egalitarianism’ where we all must give equal portions. It insists on the spirit of ‘Un-grace’ where everything must be earned or paid for. My challenge to us this year is to stand against that prevailing attitude by living our lives on God’s scale; Magnanimous. Don’t just do the minimum but give how God would give, love the way He did, forgive as He forgave and let’s flood our world with God’s Grace. What can you do this year to change your life to be more magnanimous? Perhaps it’s to forgive an offence, show love and support to those you think may not deserve it, love your enemies, or give for God’s cause. The key to living this way is firstly by knowing that God is on our side and He has already endowed us with so much. If we truly believe this, then we will live as if he will not forsake us or leave us wanting as we take care of what matters to Him. Remember to stir up the gift that is in you. And that gift is not the spirit of fear “but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” 2 Tim 1:7 Be Magnanimous for Jesus Christ! God bless you, Pastor Stan Harvey February Handout Guide Page 2. Hello and welcome to The Pentecostals of Sydney where you can experience new life in Christ!

And that gift is not the spirit of fear “but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” 2 Tim 1:7

It will be a time set aside specifically to see people filled with the Holy Spirit and experience the miraculous power of God. More details will be forthcoming.

21 Days of Magnanimous Living10 February - 2 March 2014

It’s that time of the year again, that we as a church engage in the powerful and essential activity of united Prayer and Fasting. These two disciplines are vital for spiritual growth, breakthroughs against spiritual resistance and in getting aligned to God’s will. If you would like to join us (and we encourage you too!) or find out more information about it please pick up a 21 Days of Magnanimous Living Guide at the Welcome Desk.

Fijian MinistryWe are blessed at the POS to have a large population of Fijians attend our assembly. In order to reach out to the Fijian community we have a Fijian Ministry. Once a month there is a Fijian Speaking Service at 3pm on a Sunday. This service includes preaching, worship and fellowship following. They also gather monthly for prayer and evangelism. If you would like to join please speak to one of our hostesses at the Welcome Desk.

ReWired YouthWe understand that High School, Uni and Tafe are times of much change- Physical, Mental and even Spiritual. Whether you're the big man at school or the quiet one in the back of the class you have a place at Rewired Youth.

Come along to a dynamic service on Friday nights at 7:30pm- with skits, games and a message aimed right at you, we guarantee you'll have a great time.

We would love to have you!

e-ConnectRecently, we have started a new monthly email that keeps you informed about what is going on at the POS as well as suggesting new music and books. You are also introduced to a special volunteer in the church and much more. If you would like to join it scan the QR code or visit our website.
