Identity for The Cakery

Identity and branding for Leamington Spa cake business established in 1982 under

the name Carolyn’s Cakes. The business required a new identity in order to expand

the business and open it’s first shop. The Cakery was born and proceeded to become

a recognisable brand in the town.

Shop Front Signage and Interior Design

I designed all signage and shop front graphics for The Cakery using white as a base to provide a neu-

tral frame for the window display. The interior design was also kept very neutral with shabby chic

white furniture and decorative white frames.

Website design for the Cakery

A simple website for The Cakery consisting of basic company information,

photo galleries and contact information. The website was designed to be

in-keeping with The Cakery’s vintage branding yet clean, simple and easy

to navigate.

The gallery images and photo-retouching for the website are also handled

by myself.

Summer Ball 2012

The University of York’s Summer Ball 2012 Branding

York University’s Summer Ball is the biggest event on the University events calender and a spe-

cial one for those that are graduating. The event is a mix of black tie dinner and festival and the

branding needed to give it a special feel whilst still being summery and fun.

I designed various promotional material for the Summer Ball including

posters, flyers, large-scale banners, POS advertising and web ads. The

branding has a retro, vintage style in-keeping with current trends.

The Lounge Bar

Branding for The Lounge Bar on the University of York campus

The logo for The Lounge bar was designed to fit in with the feel of the bar whilst also

fitting with the YUSU brand and their other commercial venues. The brand pallette

brings together the various colours in the bar and in the surrounding building.

Branding for Roses 2011

I designed the identity and branding for Roses - a yearly sports tourna-

ment between the University of York and the University of Lancaster.

The tournament has a long history and each team is represented by

the rose of their city- white for York and red for Lancaster.

photographs of York Sport competitors. The posters were designed to parody

movie posters with movie poster-style headlines and credits.

Direct response campaign to encourage Grazia readers to sign up to Grazia Daily email bulletins The campaign

aimed to target Grazia Readers when most responsive - on working lunch breaks.

‘Boarding Pass’ Direct Mail

A creative piece of direct mail to encourage donations to the University of York in America

Visiting Scholarship Fund. The leaflet was designed to look like a boarding pass, suggesting

that donations to the fund will buy students a ‘boarding pass to widen their horizons’.

Identity for Susie’s Tea Rooms, Appledore.

I designed the new logo and branding for the recently refurbished ‘Susie’s Tea

Rooms’ in Appledore.The branding was designed to fit with the old fashioned

feel of the seaside town and appeal to customers young and old.

Lolene/Miss Foo Foo Branding

Branding and artwork for music artist Lolene (Capitol/EMI records).

AboveL: Logo design for Mis Foo Foo Inc, Lolene’s own brand of merchandise. The design represents her fierce alter-ego Miss Foo Foo and uses her trade-mark curls to spell out her name. The design also has a 70s feel in-keeping with her love of disco music and all things retro.
