The Porch House is believed to date from the mid 1600’s and is Grade II listed. It is situated halfway between Bristol and Gloucester, 15 miles from each, in a classic position overlooking the village green to the church. Although the house provides excellent family accommodation, the interior separates very naturally to present potential for dual occupancy, a home office or letting out, subject to any necessary consents. The east wing, known as The Barn, is self-contained and is presently let.

The present owners purchased the property in 1999 when in need of complete renovation. It has since been most sympathetically modernised, blending the traditional with the contemporary, yet carefully retaining all appropriate period features. The sitting room, dining room and family room in The Porch House are lovely comfortable rooms, each with a fireplace, with the one in the family room fitted with a log burning stove. All three rooms overlook the green to the church. A rear hall leads to a study with stone fireplace and chimney breast fitted with period grate, vaulted ceiling with roof truss, and overlooks the south facing garden. The inner hall also gives access the cellar with good ceiling height. The farmhouse style kitchen/ breakfast room opens to the south facing garden. The kitchen is well appointed with painted wooden units, a Belling Classic range cooker and quarry tile floor. There is a preparation kitchen with matching units, Belfast sink and quarry tiled floor. The large utility room adjoins and has a stable door to the south facing garden.

A turning staircase in the entrance hall rises to a generous sized bathroom with double shower on the half landing. The principal bedroom suite with two dressing rooms, a bath/shower room, and a further bedroom are located on the first floor. The staircase continues to the second floor with three bedrooms and a shower room. Four of the five bedrooms, including the principal bedroom, overlook the green to the church. The fifth bedroom overlooks the garden to distant countryside.

The BarnWhilst The Barn is self-contained with access from outside, it is very much integral to The Porch House as it is accessed internally from the family room, which leads into The Barn’s sitting 39’ drawing room.
