Governor Designate hosts Community Events across North Wales
Last month, Russ Trent, the future Governor of HMP Berwyn, and members of his management team
held the first of a series of Community Events in North Wales. This event in Wrexham was well attend-
ed and had a broad level of representation from various organisations and groups across the County
Borough.
The Governor talked about the timings for the project and his rehabilitative vision for the prison.
Following the presentation, there was an informative Question and Answer session.
A second event took place in Denbighshire with one planned for 1st June in Flintshire. Future dates
are being scheduled for Conwy, Anglesey & Gwynedd.
These events are ‘by invitation only’, and you need to register your interest to attend. For further in-
formation relating to these events please contact Suzy Talbot: [email protected] - Com-
Are you looking for an exciting challenge and an opportunity to gain valuable experience in a prison setting within our busy and friendly University Health Board? If so, you will be interested in the opportunity to work in a brand new, modern prison for one of the largest community healthcare trusts in the country right here in North Wales. We will shortly be actively recruiting high quality health, recovery and wellbeing professionals with the commitment and compassion to make a real difference. We are proud of the quality of our community services and we want the right people to help us maintain our standard of care delivery. In return we offer a full package of training, support and induction, as well as ongoing learning and development reviews. We welcome people who share our Health Board values and those of HMP Berwyn. We are excited to announce that a number of vacancies will be required, including:
Registered Nurses (Primary Care, Mental Health, Substance Misuse) Bands 5 and 6
Occupational Therapists Physiotherapists Speech and Language Therapists Substance misuse key workers and
group work facilitators, Bands 4 and 5

specialties)
Full time and part time hours are available and clinical staff will be expected to work across 7 days and to participate in shift work which will include early shifts, late shifts and night shifts. All jobs will be advertised through NHS Jobs and we will be holding a series of interview and selection days which candidates will be invited to attend following application and short listing on NHS Jobs. There will be an opportunity for people to gain further information on what it is like to work within a prison environment at these events, those who would then like to proceed with their application, will attend an interview and if successful, begin the clearance process. Please note that any offer of employment will be subject to the successful receipt of enhanced DBS and prison vetting clearances.
