Help Save Our Bell Tower As discussed at the annual general
meeting on May 23, current fundraising and Sunday collections
barely cover day-to-day operation of the parish. No funds are
available to perform major repair and maintenance work on the
church building. The most pressing work, fixing a water penetration
problem and replacing up to 3000 bricks on the bell tower, has been
estimated at $60,000. An ambitious fundraising initiative is
required to pay for this and other repairs that will be required
over the next few years. To this end, we are asking for your
assistance to establish a Parish Fundraising Committee to develop
and implement a fundraising campaign. To achieve our goal, we will
need to go beyond regular parishioners and reach out to the greater
Aylmer community, where our church has been a landmark for 60
years. One proposal at the AGM was a campaign where members of the
parish and the community at large would be invited to buy one or
more of the 3000 bricks to fix the bell tower for an amount per
brick to be determined. It is urgent that we get started on this as
soon as possible. If you are willing to help, especially if you
have previous experience with major fundraising events, please
advise any member of the Fabrique (contact info at the back of the
bulletin).
Parish Office – Summer Holidays Please note that the Parish
Secretary will be on holidays from June 22 to June 30. Regular
office hours will commence on July 4. The second week of holidays
will be from August 1 to August 4. Regular office hours will
commence on August 8. Father John will be in office during this
time so in case of an emergency please call the Parish Office and
press 5 to be directed to Father John. Thank you for your
understanding.
