Solemnity of Christ the King November 21–22, 2020
A Note from Our Pastor,
As we approach our country’s National Day of Thanksgiving next
Thursday, there are numerous ways to indicate our gratitude by
showing generosity. This year instead of
donating non-perishable food items for St. Matthew’s Food
Pantry, we are asking parishioners to donate su-permarket gift
cards in $10 denominations. Another way to indicate gratitude and
generosity is to contribute to the second collection this weekend
to assist the healthcare and retirement needs of religious sisters
here in the Archdiocese of Boston. Here at St. Agatha Parish and
School we have been blessed to have the ministry of the Sisters of
St. Joseph, the Sisters of Charity of Halifax, the Sisters of Notre
Dame, and the School Sis-ters of Notre Dame.
Just a reminder that this Sunday November 22nd at 4pm is the
annual Milton Interfaith Clergy Association (MICA) Thanks For
Giving service. This year our par-ish honorees are Ann Louise
Sullivan, Deacon Dan Sul-livan, and Noel Schaub for the manifold
ways they have served and continue to serve St. Agatha Parish. To
be able to be present for this event which is in virtual for-mat
this year, the following is the link to register for this event:
https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_1c-ZPRKtQ2uRFuk12XNSCQ.
After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing
information about joining the webinar. This link can also be found
on our parish website.
Please join us either in person or via livestream for our
Thanksgiving Masses: at 7pm on Wednesday November 25th, and at 9am
on Thursday Thanksgiving Day. Due to the Vigil Mass on Wednesday
evening, Reconciliation will be available on Tuesday from 6:30pm to
8pm for this week only.
Next weekend begins the Season of Advent, and we are adding an
additional Sunday Mass and adjusting the Sunday morning schedule
accordingly. The 4:30pm Mass on Saturday and the 5pm Mass on Sunday
will remain unchanged. On Sunday morning, however, be-ginning next
weekend November 28 and 29, the sched-ule will be 7:30am, 9:30am,
and 11:30am. The 9:30am Mass will be a Family Mass with a homily
geared to-ward the younger members of our parish. Just a remind-er
about Mass protocols: all people entering the church who are older
than five years old must be wearing a mask, and must continue
wearing the mask until they leave, unless they have a specific
speaking/singing role at the Mass; children under the age of two
should not
wear a mask; children from ages two to five should wear a mask
only at the discretion of their parents.
Many thanks to the more than 400 parishioners who took the time
to respond to our Christmas Mass survey. Your responses are
enormously helpful in planning the times and the number of Masses
here at St. Agatha’s on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day this year.
More in-formation will follow when we decide, based largely on your
responses, on our Christmas Mass schedule.
I hope that you and your loved ones have a safe, enjoya-ble, and
blessed Thanksgiving Holiday and weekend this year!
Fr. Palardy
This week’s Second Collection for the Retired Religious Sisters
Today’s second collection is used to assist religious com-munities
to provide for the retirement and health care needs of Sisters who
have served in the Archdiocese. Please take this opportunity to say
thank you to the Sisters who have served the Church of Boston so
generously for so many years. Your contribution does make a
difference. For more information, please contact the Delegate for
Reli-gious at 617-746-5637.

THE WEEKLY UPDATE
THEME: Jesus’ kingdom is a kingdom of actions and deeds, not
merely of words.
As you hear this powerful, disturbing reading today, what words
in it jump off the page for you? What image or idea lingers in your
mind now?
Gospel : Matthew 25:31-46 Jesus said to his disciples: “When the
Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will
sit upon his glorious throne, and all the nations will be assembled
before him. And he will separate them one from another, as a
shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will place the
sheep on his right and the goats on his left. Then the king will
say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father.
Inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the
world. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you
gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me, naked and you
clothed me, ill and you cared for me, in prison and you visited
me.’ Then the righteous will answer him and say, ‘Lord, when did we
see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? When
did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you?
When did we see you ill or in prison, and visit you?’ And the king
will say to them in reply, ‘Amen, I say to you, whatever you did
for one of the least brothers of mine, you did for me.’ Then he
will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you accursed, into
the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was
hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no
drink, a stranger and you gave me no welcome, naked and you gave me
no clothing, ill and in prison, and you did not care for me.’ Then
they will answer and say, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or
thirsty or a stranger or naked or ill or in prison, and not
minister to your needs?’ He will answer them, '’Amen, I say to you,
what you did not do for one of these least ones, you did not do for
me.’ And these will go off to eternal punishment, but the righteous
to eternal life.”
Nearly every aspect of our lives has been impacted by the
COVID-19 pandemic that has now been with us for over 8 months.
Unfortunately, our annual Giving Tree Project to benefit the
families served by My Brother’s Keeper is no exception. In this,
our 30th year of running this tremen-dously successful effort, to
keep the tradition alive and strong, we have made changes to how
the process will op-erate. While the need to safeguard everyone’s
safety is of paramount concern, we are also very mindful of the
many people who have been financially impacted by this health
crisis and need our help. We need your help this year per-haps more
than any other. Our theme throughout all of these years has been
lending our helping hands to those in need, because we are truly
God’s hands on Earth. So this year the “ornaments” will be virtual
rather than physical. Beginning this upcoming week you will be
invited to go to a link on our parish website where there will be
virtual ornaments for boys and girls of all ages as well as adults.
The link should be available by the middle of the week, and will be
in next week’s Bulletin as well. When you se-lect an ornament you
will be given further instructions on the next steps. This
year—unlike past years—we will be asking you NOT to wrap the gifts
you purchase but to bring them to the garage behind the Rectory
where volun-teers will help with contactless drop off. More
specifics regarding drop-off dates and times will be available in
next week’s Bulletin. Thanks so much for your patience and
understanding, and most importantly for your commit-ment to serve
other’s in Christ’s name.
The Grand Annual Collection continues to move along nicely. This
past week an additional 43 parishioners re-sponded bringing the
total to 315. These households con-tributed $18,476 bringing our
total thus far to $135,577 as we make steady progress toward our
budgeted goal of $170,000 - and hopefully beyond!

In order to accommodate the number of parishion-ers attending
the Sunday Masses in person, we will be adding an additional Mass

9:30am and 11:30am on Sunday. There will be NO change to the 4:30pm
Mass on Saturday or the 5:00pm Mass on Sunday. The 9:30am Family
Mass will be livestreamed in place of the existing 11:00 am Mass.
Please check the bulletin if you have scheduled a Mass intention
for the current Mass times.
This change is contingent on current COVID-19 protocols staying
in place. Please check our website for the most up-to-date
instructions. Thank you.

Pastoral Planning
November 22 ~ Solemnity of Christ the King Today’s parable is
one of the most vivid parables Jesus spoke. We will not be judged
on the knowledge we have accumulated, or the fame that we have
acquired, or the fortune we have gained. We will be judged on the
way we have listened and been present to others—in the way we have
served Christ in the other. The lesson is crystal clear—God will
judge us according to our reaction those in need. This means giving
simple help to the people we meet every day—to the hungry, the
thirsty, the sick, the stranger, the prisoner—to Christ
himself!
Ask, and it will be given to you…We asked and you re-sponded in
a big way. About 400 parishioners took the time to let us know
their Christmas Mass preferences. This will be a big help in our
planning for the upcoming holidays. We expect to have the Mass
times decided in early December. Please check our website for the
most current information.
Thank You for Responding to the Christmas Mass Survey!

CONFIRMATION & YOUNG CHURCH MINISTRY
In addition to the protocols currently in place for in-person
Mass attendance, we will continue to collect contact tracing
information for all attendees. Please submit your contact
information on our website (here) before coming to Mass. If you do
not have access to our website, you will be able to give that
information to the parish ambassador at the en-trance to the church
upon arrival. If we were to discover that someone at any given Mass
tests positive for COVID-19 in the following weeks, we want to be
able to inform all of you so that, in consultation with your
physician, you can take the appropriate steps. Please note that any
notice will not in-clude the name of the person who tested
positive, which will be kept confidential, but only the Mass (date
and time) which they attended and any other relevant non-personal
infor-mation. Please give yourself extra time when arriving for
Mass to be seated. Thank you.
GIFT CARD DONATIONS REQUESTED
St. Matthew’s Food Pantry is asking for Thanksgiving support
from our generous parishioners this year to
help feed the many more hungry folks looking for food. Last year
we included the option of donating supermarket gift cards. They
were well received by the clients, as they could buy specialty or
ethnic food for their Holiday Feast. Any local supermarket, Star,
Stop & Shop, Target, or Roche Bros. have gift cards of $10,
etc. The cards can be dropped in the church collection baskets or
mailed to the Rectory. Your kindness and generosity are well
appreciated, espe-cially this time of year. Thank you and stay
safe.
The Book of Prayers is present at every Mass and the intentions
included in the Book are prayed for during the Prayers of the
Faithful. If you would like to add an inten-tion to our Book of
Prayers, email [email protected] and your intention will
be written into the book.
