Last week we started a new series all about Jesus’ miracles. Do you remember what a miracle is?

Today’s story is about someone who was paralysed – that is someone who couldn’t walk at all You will need to keep clicking on each slide to get to the next activity.

Story Time – Jesus heals the Paralysed Man

The common people were there because they loved to listen to Jesus’ stories and the disciples were

there because they wanted to learn about

God.

Jesus was teaching inside a house. It was very full –the Pharisees were there because they wanted to

see Jesus make a mistake

In the town lived a man who was paralysed – he

could not move his legs at all. His 4 friends knew

that Jesus could heal him, so they decided to take

him to Jesus

What was the problem? Click on

Carefully they placed him on a stretcher and they

carried him all the way to the house where Jesus was teaching. And then

they had a problem!

So carefully they carried their friend up the outside stairs and

on to the flat roof. Then they started digging until they had

made a hole in the roof big enough to lower their friend

through.

The men were determined. They had carried their friend all this way – they were not going

to be turned back. If they couldn’t get in through the

door, they would get in through the roof.

There was no room to get in to

the house because of all the people!

Jesus looked up at the four friends who were peeping down through

the hole they had made. He smiled at them. Then

he looked at the paralysed man and said, “Your sins are forgiven.”

The Pharisees were annoyed. “Only God can forgive sins – who does this man think he is?”

they grumbled.

Jesus smiled. “I have the power to forgive sins – look, I’ll prove it: Get up and walk!”

The man got up and walked! He walked through the crowd

and out of the door –completely well.

The four friends who took the paralysed man to Jesus kept going even though they could not get through to the house at first. There is a word that is used for believing in God even though we can’t see him and trusting that he will always help us and be with us. Find the word by writing the first letter of each picture clue.

The Pharisees believed that only God could forgive sins and that by telling the man that his sins were forgiven Jesus was doing something wrong. Jesus showed them that he could not only tell the man that he was forgiven for things he had done wrong, but that he could heal him. This showed that Jesus was not just a man but the:

The four friends in the story wanted to do the best thing that they could to help a friend who was having a difficult time. Some people are having a difficult time now . What can we do to make things better? Help around
