It is a time for counting our blessings, making happy memo- ries with those we love, and focusing on simple pleasures. I have found over the years, and I’m sure you would agree, that children enjoy so very much the little things we do with them around this time of year. And it’s the little things we do as a family that make these days even more special. Though this can be a busy time of year, I hope that you’ll take time to enjoy the simple pleasures of the season. Make a family inspired meal together, create something special, take a leisure walk through the Fall leaves, enjoy a family movie or snuggle up to a good book. At WCSAT there are so many wonderful people and so many great things happen- ing that it is easy to feel very thankful every day. Our students are so wonderful and so much fun to be around, they work hard and take great pride in their learning. Our teachers are so dedicated and creative in the work that they do with our students; they are here at school long before school starts and long after the students leave for the day. And of course all of you parents are so very generous in your support and encouragement of our school. Whether you are volunteering in our classrooms, help- ing with a PBC event, or supporting a classroom fundraiser, your support is much appreciated. It is no wonder that WCSAT is such a great place for children to grow and learn, with all of us working together to make it the best it can be! On October 30, 2013, the second grade classes went on a fantas-tic fieldtrip to the McHenry Museum and the Gallo Center for the Arts.

They explored local history at the museum and learned many new things about the community.

Within the museum there are a county recorders office, a general store and a recreated blacksmith shop using wood and square nails from a century old house. Other exhibits include gold mining para-phernalia, original fire fighting equipment, along exhibits showing what a turn of the century home might have had for furnishings.

Students also visited the Gallo Center for the Arts to watch a theater performance of - A Diary of a Worm, Spider, and Fly.

The performance was GREAT and was enjoyed by all!

On Friday, October 4th, five real men from Whitmore attended the Real Men Sing Music Festival. It was hosted by Johansen High School and featured guest conductor Richard Colla. The event was for men only – no girls allowed… Well, girls could come and lis-ten but it was an all-male choir. Our five valiant participants were: Chris Cordrey and Noah Reese, Grade 12, Caleb Cordrey and Steven Jones, Grade 9, and Jared “Junior” Fernandez, Grade 6. These men became part of a 200-plus member choir.

The day started with warm-ups and rehearsal. There were featured smaller groups, including the CSU Stanislaus Men’s Choir and a barbershop quartet from Downey High School. At the conclusion of the event, all two hundred men sang three songs: Dormi, Dormi (Sleep, Sleep) a lullaby in Italian, The Pirate King from The Pirates of Penzance, and Carry on Wayward Son by Kansas. Listening to this massive choir was an amazing experience! We all left feeling a bit more manly.

Kindergarten Had A Day of Fun!Check out kindergarten on their first field trip! Mrs. Rodrigues' and Mrs. Burnett's classes had a blast visiting the police and fire stations! They learned about the daily routine of policemen and firemen, took a tour of the SWAT truck and fire engine, and learned about safety.

Kindergarteners also visited the Resendiz pumpkin patch. The students enjoyed learning about the water cycle, planting broccoli, look-ing at farm animals, getting a tasty treat from the store, feeding the fish, and picking out a pumpkin! The kindergarteners can't wait to take another adventure!
