The Lost Love Song by Minnie Darke. (2020).
In Australia, Arie waits impatiently for classical pianist Diana to return from a world tour and is hopeful that she'll finally agree to plan their wedding. On her travels, Diana composes a song for Arie. Late one night, her song is overheard and begins its own journey across the world.
I really enjoyed this author's previous novel (Star-Crossed) so I was quite excited to see this release. I'm happy to report that I found it to be a great read! I was a bit thrown by the big event that occurs near the start of the novel (you'll know what I mean when you read it), just because I wasn't expecting it at all. What I like about this book is that while there are some jumps between different characters and what I would call little intermission chapters, it never gets confusing and the story all flows together really well. All of the characters are really likeable and feel realistic. Love is the running theme throughout this story and that love takes many forms: relationship, family, friend and so on. BG

DVD Review
Mad men (seasons 1-7)
A drama about one of New York's most prestigious ad agencies at the beginning of the 1960s, focusing on one of the firm's most mysterious but extremely talented ad executives, Don Draper. Beautifully filmed and acted 1960s period piece. You will get caught up in the busy lives of the main cast. Attention to detail of the settings and 60's lifestyles (which will leave today's health & safety/PC brigade having a heart attack) is superb. You will feel that it was filmed on location in 1960s. A truly binge worthy series that will stay with you long after you’ve watched the last episode. It offers a glimpse into a time that has truly gone forever.

Bassendean Dairies.
Local dairies provided daily milk supplies to families until the devastating infectious disease Rinderpest impacted local dairies in the 1920’s. Bassendean was ideally suited for agriculture with alluvial soil and access to the river for transport and complimentary local industries were attracted. Many families grew their own food and vineyards and plant nurseries were established in the district. Many people had double blocks with a paddock for their horse and large vegetable patches.
Richard Purser and Company, based in Bassendean, produced and sold farm equipment to help the dairy industry including chaff cutters, milk separators and butter churns.
Did you know straying stock was a common problem and features regularly in the early West Guidford Road Board minutes? Solutions were to improve fencing, impound stock and create the position of the Pound Keeper in 1948.
As early as 1882, straying stock was reported on the Bassendean Estate.

An early dairy was Frank Honner’s Tatiara Dairy on Parnell Parade c1909.
