Giving Others Freedom

In the excerpt below, Harold Klemp is speaking of his daughter leaving home to work at a fish cannery in Alaska. The Sound of Soul Events

HU can be sung quietly, in a group, or silently inside. But when you use it, you are showing your love for God. Many find daily practice of doing the HU beneficial, from the physical to the spiritual. Every first Saturday at 11 a.m. at the SJEC there will be a Sound of Soul Event. There is also one on the second Friday at 7:30 p.m. in Spanish. Another is at 2 p.m. at the Community of Infinite Spirit (1540 Hicks Ave., San Jose) on Saturday the 26th. “HU can be sung by anyone of any religion. It isn’t meant to change your religion. HU will enhance it.”

—Harold Klemp, The Sound of Soul, p. 11.

ECK Light and Sound Service

The San Jose Eckankar Center hosts the ECK Light and Sound Service every first Sunday of the month. This month, the theme is, “Giving, the Secret to Receiving.” All are welcome, regardless of race, creed, or religion. Enjoy fellowship and light eating after the Service. The ECK Light and Sound Service is unique because of the HU. The HU purifies the one who sings it, but it is an even greater feeling when sung together. The Service also features a small group discussion to share any experiences you may have. “We must first give to life if we expect life to give anything in return. This is the divine law.” —Harold Klemp, The Language of Soul, p. 136. What’s New in the Bookroom

The following are new to the San Jose Eckankar Center: CDs and DVDs of the 2018 ECK Springtime Seminar talk by Harold Klemp, “A Few Good Lessons”; the booklet, ECK Wisdom on Spiritual Freedom; and the handy 2019 pocket calendar. Also, there are many more materials both audio and written in the lending library for you to borrow and bring back at your leisure.

Open Door Subscription The public is welcome to pick up a free copy of the Open Door at the San Jose Eckankar Center on the Free Materials table. Chela pages are for members and can be found in the bookshelves. Suggested donation is $1. Each month, you can enjoy articles, a spiritual exercise, and a list of Saturday and Sunday events. For three free months subscription, contact Newsletter Editor, Casey Louie, email: [email protected], or call him: (408) 623-7318. An Exercise to Try

Best Sleeping Technique for Soul Travel

“There are three main steps to prepare yourself for Soul Travel in the dream state:

1. Arrange your schedule to get as much sleep as needed to be fresh in the morning.

2. A few minutes before bedtime, read from one of the ECK books to signal your intent to pursue spiritual activity during sleep. Good choices are The Shariyat-Ki-Sugmad, Book One or Two, or Stranger by the River.

3. Then contemplate upon the image of the Mahanta, the Living ECK Master. In this spiritual exercise, give an invitation to the Master like this: ‘I welcome you into my heart as my home. Please enter it as my guest.’

“Then go to sleep as usual, but leave the eye of Soul (located a bit above and between the eyebrows) alert to the coming of the teacher. Look for him, because he is always with you.” —Harold Klemp, Past Lives, Dreams, and Soul Travel, p. 229.

Harold Klemp

The Spiritual Leader of Eckankar

Eckankar—The Path of Spiritual Freedom

Eckankar teaches that there is an audible life current known as the ECK, or Holy Spirit, that connects each of us with the heart of God. We can experience the ECK as Light and Sound. Through study and practice of the Spiritual Exercises of ECK, we learn to recognize the Light and Sound of God as it touches our lives and brings increased divine love.

The spiritual leader of Eckankar is the Mahanta, the Living ECK Master, Sri Harold Klemp. The Mahanta is the inner, or spiritual, form of the Living ECK Master. The Mahanta gives inner guidance through dreams, Soul Travel, and the Spiritual Exercises of ECK. Harold Klemp’s inspiring talks and writings, and his practical approach to spirituality, help thousands of people worldwide find greater freedom, wisdom, and love. His teachings uplift and help people recognize their own experiences with the Light and Sound of God.
