RC MAKATI RC MAKATI RC MAKATI RC MAKATI OLYMPIA IS BORN OLYMPIA IS BORN OLYMPIA IS BORN OLYMPIA IS BORN Out of the dreams of long-time Rotarians who are wishing to go back to the cherished tenets of Rotary and the desire of friends and acquaintances to serve and help people in need, Rotary Club of Makati Olympia (RCMO) is born. For RCMO, August 9, 2010 is a very special as it is the day that it officially became a bona fide member of Rotary International. RCMO has charter strength of 54 members composed of 12 old Rotarians and 42 new members, one of the largest new clubs that has been chartered in the last 4 years. Mother clubs are RC Makati Central and Makati Urdaneta and DGSR is DGN Sue Sta. Maria The Charter presentation is on October 16, 2010. As its first activity as a full pledged club, it launched the AKLAT, a reading tutorial project for 60 to 120 Grades 1-3 pupils of Jose Magsaysay Elementary School who are non-readers on August 14. In the succeeding months it plans to implement a vocational project in cooperation with the Philippine Bakers Foundation in baking and bakery operations, community projects in Barangay Olympia under the comprehensive program of Lingkod Olympia and surgical missions in February next year in partnership with the Southern California Doctors and the Manila Adventist Hospital Medical Team possibly on Pateros, Taguig and Saranggani as well as PR and Public Image projects for the club. It shall also do youth development projects with its sponsored youth partners -the Rotaract, Interact and Rotakid The 54 strong charter members of RCMO are raring to buckle down to work and make a mark in the community that it will serve in its maiden year. Cheers to the new club! Message Message Message Message of the of the of the of the RCMO RCMO RCMO RCMO President President President President Good news my fellow Olympians! We have received the welcome news informing us that our application to be a member of the Rotary family has been approved on August 9, 2010. What a blessing that our chartering day is 8-9-10! This being said, it is very important that we prepare more intensively for our charter presentation while doing the activities of a duly organized Rotary Club. Let me first discuss the activities that we should do. In the past weeks, we have been given orientation on various Rotary Information that will allow us to see what Rotary is for. Our DGSR Sue and some notable personalities in our District have walked with us through these information sessions. PDG Butch Francisco talked to us about the duties and responsibilities of members. PDG Boyet Limon discussed with us about service projects as we know Rotary will be empty without these. As we are now a bona fide member of Rotary International, it is my hope that we will continue to learn more about Rotary for knowledge is boundless and with it we will be able to appreciate and love more what we do. Through all of these, our charter presentation, is one activity that will not be repeated hence will need much of our participation. Although we have a committee to spearhead the preparations, it is best that all of us lend a hand and be active in the preparations.
