INTRODl JCTION
This index covers issue numbers 121 to 144 of the NORTH EASTERN EXPRESS, the journal of the North Eastern Railway Association.
All major articles appearing in the NORTH EASTERN EXPRESS are listed by subject in alphabetical order, as are many minor items such as Acts of Parliament. Items appearing in Notes and News columns are not listed. Photographs are indexed in a separate appendix.
Index entries refer to the number of the individual journal and to the first page on which the item appears. Thus an entry 122/47 refers to an article beginning on page 47 of Express No. 122. Articles appearing in supplements to individual issues are denoted by a suffix "s" (e.g. 132s ). Other references to special supplements and particular newsletters (e.g. N 145) should be self evident. There are a number of references to articles in earlier issues where these are continued into the present index. Similarly "Cont" indicates an article continued into issue 143. References for photographs are given in the appendix. Other references used are as follows : - ifc - inside front cover; be - back cover.
The NERA wish to acknowledge the assistance of Denis Whitfield in the preparation of this index.
