She reports that the HSQG has provided 350 pillow cases thus far to the Macey Pillowcase Foundation, named for the little girl pictured below, who is suffering from kidney disease With the holidays approaching, delivery of these beloved gifts might drop off. To fill the gap this call goes out to day and evening guild mem-bers to make a pillow case due at the morning holiday party. These pillow cases will be distributed by the Ronald McDonald House in Portland, Oregon, with an enclosed card explaining the foundation. Please no p i c - tures of emergency vehicles, fire trucks, cars, or doctors on fabric.

Free Quilting Technique Classes
Doris Wells has volunteered to teach a free quilting class on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of each month. The afternoon sessions begin at 1:15 pm; evening at 6:15 pm. Each session should last about 1-1/2 hours (this is flexible). The two sessions, afternoon and evening, will cover the same topic. The classes will start with the basics and cover making pieced blocks with rotary cutting tools and sewing by machine. Starting from an easy block, we will move on to more difficult blocks. These classes are meant to explore each topic in depth and will take the time needed to master each topic. Please feel free to join in for any topic that
piques your interest
**What’s Coming Up in November Technique classes **
We are going to complete our adventures in machine and hand appliqué this month and begin an exploration of Paper Piecing. There will be the usual 2 meetings in November and then we will take the month of De-cember off. Most of us are a bit swamped at that time of year, so we will go forward to January to resume
our meetings. Mark your calendar for the following classes:
November 5—Final class on hand appliqué. Bring to class anything you have questions on or problems with. I will be working with each of you on your questions. If you do not have questions, feel free to make
this a work session with no distractions from the phone, the family, and the usual obligations.
November 19— This is a week and a day before Thanksgiving, so I hope it will not be a problem for you. We will begin to work on paper piecing. I will send a list of the things you will need for the class to everyone on the mailing list. If you are not on the list, send me an email at: [email protected] and I will
add your name.
All are welcome to attend. It is also fine to come as an observer. If you are not a guild member, you may come to classes, but after two or three classes we would expect you to join the guild. Bring chocolate for an especially warm welcome! Suggestions for topics are welcome. For information contact Doris Wells ([email protected])or if you wish to get the notes so you can come when a topic is of interest to you, just
drop me a note. I will add you to my mailing list and send those notes as they are ready.

*****HSQG Retreat******Swan’s Song*********
The last retreat was Friday, October 10 at the Huachuca Oaks Christian
Camp. The weekend was so beautiful with just a nip of Autumn in the
air. As usual we quilted from dawn until well after dark. Not wanting to
end the opportunity to continue retreats, a committee is looking into other venues for future gatherings. Stay
tuned for more news.
******Goodbye and Good luck Dan, Cheryl
and Staff. We’ll miss you so much*******
Just a few of the beautiful projects. Some happy quilters showing off their talents!
The zip line was available for several
fearless quilters who dared harness up.
Happily no broken bones reported!
